Like a charm tonight, Pip. Maybe you're on to something, lol.
I'll freely admit that I'm nowhere near the expert level of many of the guys on this thread with regards to constructing my own queries. As JMon correctly states, it takes years of hard work to...
Another point to be made here is that the NHL database only tracks back to 2006, so essentially every query is at minimum "season>=2006", while the NBA tracks clear back to '95. Gotta be on the look...
In general, yes, I definitely consider the time frame. That's why I'm compiling results for the last 3 seasons, as it allows me to see if a trend that has been good historically but is flat or down...
I'm playing with numbers trying to quantify why the overall numbers this year are so different from past years. Thru the first 100 trends, I have a total record of 553-532, 51.34%. I'm sure there...
I'm doing a somewhat similar thing. First, I'm backtesting all the trends on the spreadsheet for 4+ seasons ('14 YTD, '13,'12,'08,'06). I'm only thru the first 100 trends, but that backtest shows...
Action on the Bulls/Pelicans tonight. 3,13,21,81,189 all have Bulls -2. My Bulls are a mess right now but hopefully they snap out of it long enough to slow down The Brow.
97,211,215 are also on...
Yep, it was 73. Glad it was already accounted for!
(I must really have been distracted to get the wrong trend # and call it an Over trend instead of an Under:duh:, but you obviously figured out...
Hey Nash, check out NBA 72. It's designated as an ATS trend, but it actually does a bit better as an Over trend (after a 2-10 start ATS this season). Do you want to add it again designated as a...
Three heavily supported plays tonight. We'll see if the jinx is on.
Celtics -1 (26,55,76,183,213,257)
Nuggets -8 (12,13,55,88,117,119,120,121,257)
Warriors -9 (19,24,110,129,173,256)
...
Yep, and thanks again for your quality contributions. This is how the majority of the trends are (I've spent a fair amount of time looking at multiple seasons for many of the trends even before I did...

I suppose it depends on how you define things. I'm considering all the queries as the pool. I could be wrong, but I think it's reasonable to consider their net result as a statistical group. I do...
Last 4 days NBA has been exactly break even for me, but NHL has been really good at +19 units.
I've been doing the larger volume variation where I play one unit on all non-conflicted trends.
I think the counter point to the short term bias of Nash' s back testing is the sample size. Between nhl and nba the raw number of plays was over 4000, which makes the results very compelling from a...
I was personally very impressed with the back test Nash13 posted back around New Year (#2707). What he showed was a hit rate of 58.77% sample size of 832 plays. This was for one play on each...
Huge day for anyone following all the active trends. Here are the biggest ones that don't have any conflicts. If anyone sees anything fishy, let me know.
OKC -9 (13,60, 110,173)
Rockets/Mavs...
I was thinking of this in context of there being 4 other trends supporting OKC, and the one ST trend supporting Miami. If someone were eliminating any conflicting plays, this one would have been out...
I'm noticing that #63 is a ST trend according to rating standards from earlier this season. Who knows on an individual play, but this seems like a good example of when judging a trends strength is...
Thanks for posting birdsfan! This is really the best way to show all the active trends on a given day. Very clear and easy to see what's going on. Some version of this is a must for anyone wanting...
Good to know. I definitely noticed that many of the totals were spotty, and many of the smaller school games that are listed were only offered at BetOnline according to the sbr odds page. Didn't...
These are the raw numbers from NCAABB so far this season with the 85 trends currently on the spreadsheet. I only applied "season=2014" to each trend and added up the cumulative record, so these...
Yep, agree with Nash...I definitely appreciate you posting. The more the better, in fact. I just wanted to make sure we didn't lose them, as I didn't have time to cross check the spreadsheet and it...
Hey Perry, thanks for the contributions. Do you have access to the spreadsheet? If so, maybe you can just throw all your best trends on there? That way they don't get lost in the shuffle of the...
There is now a "Query Automation" tab on the spreadsheet that gives a clear run down of what the developer has come up with for Nash13. For anyone who likes the volume angle (see Nash's back tests),...
Support for your trend:
H and p:HFL and p:line <= -8 and season >= 2002 and -10.5 <= line <= -4.5
I've been spending a little more time on NHL, and I think there is definitely good value to be had there. I'm waiting to see how your demo works. If it can handle NHL well, hopefully we can play...
I've also been looking at CBB trends. I think there is definitely an opportunity there as the sheer number of games lends itself to a statistical approach. I've already tagged several of the larger...
Just shoot nash13 a PM.
Couple of really nice trends here. Lower sample sizes (tho still solid) balanced out by 70% hit rates. Thanks guys!
Here's a repeat of Pip's trend from a few days ago: Lakers +10.5
playoffs=0 and p:W and season > 2007 and tS(W)-(tS(W)/1.3) < oS(W) and p:TPM*3/p:points + p:points in the paint/p:points > .76 and...
Here's one of the larger NBA trends (#21) we have that backs the Bulls tonight:
p:ou margin>10 and rest <1 and P:L and season>2008 and 11.5 > line > -10
Here's one for tonight that has a pretty good history (#21):
p:ou margin>10 and rest <1 and P:L and season>2008 and 11.5 > line > -10
Heat -4
Nice hit Jmon! Small sample, but with that kind of record stretched over 3+ seasons it was def worth playing.
I think this is a really important thing to do. With so many queries its important to keep refining where the long term quality is.
As I said previously, I'm also up for chipping in on the program.
Totals have still been pretty rough. 8-13 since December 1, if my count is correct. Seems like they would get better at some point, as the trends seem fairly solid. Who knows what's going on there.
Just posted the hockey plays. No time for me to look at NBA today tho. Hopefully someone has time, as I'm sure there are plenty of active trends
Like it Mako! I'll be tailing, as your's supports the stronger trend for the Spurs (#46)
P.S. NHL plays are up on the sheet. Didn't have time to get them done for the early games, but we didn't...
Thanks D! Defiantly appreciated. I'm working on the NHL now. I started on them overnight too, but was concerned that I would miss plays due to lines not being out (Jets/Avalanche line finally out...
I got the NHL trends done this morning, but ran out of time for the NBA. Just thought I'd mention it, as someone had posted some of the NHL plays before me but only posted 4 or 5 for the possible 25...
Like Jmon's idea of contacting sportsdatabase. a) competition is always good, and b) if they offer this kind of thing we wouldn't have to worry about them understanding the specifics. Nash 13, you...
As long as you are confident that the developer understands what we need and can deliver, this would be a powerful tool and probably worth the $$. Just to clarify, the $2000 gets us one person...
Spreadsheet updated (NHL too). I combed thru last night, which I think is fine, but maybe the system didn't update everything so if someone sees any plays I missed, just add 'em in. Spurs and Mavs...
That may be a really good idea. If anyone (you or nash13?) knows the right person to build an app like that I'm all for it and would happily chip in to help get it done. Time is money. I'm sure we...
Love this one Ronald. Let's get the one going back to '08 on the spreadsheet if it isn't already.
*Just put it in. Went all the way back to 2002 and it was still over 60% with a healthy 133 games...
Thanks dmitean!
As I've been doing it for the last week or so I keep thinking it might be worth it to just pay KS to do it automatically. Maybe I'm still slow, but it takes me a good 30 min to go...
I guess it just depends on how someone likes to play, but when Consig posted the overall results for unique trend plays the other day, it was pretty eye opening. I'm sure there will be losing days...
Thanks to nash13, I caught my mistake on the spreadsheet.
T-wolves are on 3 trends tonight (thought they were on two and Clippers were on the other):
H and p:AW and pp:AW and season > 2008...
Well, whatever the rationale, I'm on it too . Good to get familiar with these little wrinkles. As we get more and more quality in the available trends, it's good to know which ones have...
