Default How hard is it to be a linesman in tennis?

I mean im watching these matches in zagreb,SA and im some of these linesman are like 65 with pot bellies, some are 20 year old girls..
Do you have to go to ATP linesman school or something?

So all you have to do is stand there for 2 hours and look down a line and say in or out,and then between games sit your fat ass down on a chair.

Seems like the only requirement is that you have 20/20 eyesight and have a heartbeat...

From what I heard you have to be well connected to even be considered. Don't all the courts already have their own?

Too hard to fix matches as a lineman, especially with the challenge system. The amount of calls you can actually blow without coming under fire is very limited.

It's mostly by volunteer though there is minimal training/verification. I know a couple who gets to go to Pilot Pen every year because they work the lines.
