    Default TSONGA v NADAL 11/13

Why is Tsonga favored over Nadal?

Well I was surprised to see it at first as well. I was thinking that Nadal would be a slight favorite of Tsonga and I was going to take the games offered to Tsonga for sure and hope that he either gets the upset or keeps it close. I guess the linemakers 1) recognize how well Tsonga has played the last few matches 2) see that he is the defending champ of the tourney 3) has the french crowd 4) has the type of game that could "potentially" blow Nadal off the court. (he has done it once).

The thing that worries me about Nadal is that he never gives up...my initial thoughts were that Tsonga would get this in either 2 close sets or 3.

Nadal's serve is not nearly as solid as Tsonga's so Tsonga should have easier holds than Nadal.

The fact that Nadal is so tough makes me think that this has good potential for 3 sets - if it goes 2 then I would go Tsonga....in 3 Nadal has a chance.

I will post my pick for this match when I see the Over/Under and games.

Can't see Nadal winning this one. Tsonga has bigger groundstrokes and serve than robredo and almagro and if those two can trouble rafa with their offensive game then tsonga will be even tougher. IMO his last two wins had more to do with his opponent's chokings rather than Rafa raising his game. He can't be lucky three times in a row. Tsonga should win.

Tsonga is also playing for a spot in the year-end even in London. If he wins and Djokovic beats Soderling, he still has a shot to get in the Top 8. I think the price is justified. Nadal has nothing to play for here other than pride.

This time of year is difficult to predict. Most top players seem to be just going thorugh the motions.

I would have bet Tsonga up to -135 or so, but am passing at the current price. I would consider Nadal at over +150, but I doubt this gets there.

Tsonga in 3 sets? Or Tsonga 2-1? May be worth a try...

This probably doesn't mean much since my guess is he wants to focus only on singles but Tsonga withdrew from doubles citing the wrist injury which forced him to retire last week.

Spaniards don't like French. Expect Nadal to put up a good fight and at +144 currently he has value.

what is wrong with nadal's forehand, is he injured? maybe his hairloss is affecting his play?
