    Default Ulver's Tennis Picks

Going to take the reigns of the smaller tourney tennis picks. All plays are assumed to be/to win 1unit each unless dictated otherwise.

    For this night/morning

    Safin -160

Seems like a last hurrah for Safin, who actually hasn't' been playing poorly lately just getting beat by better players.

    Gasquet -175

I think people are still a bit skeptical of Gasquet since his return. Richard has Top 10 talent and there is some good value here even at -175 against former top 10'er Johansson. Johansson recently beat Lleyton Hewitt, but I can't help but think that Llyeton might have been distracted by the fact Johansson dated his sister for 5 years (kidding about the distraction, serious about the dating his sister). He had a bunch of shoulder injuries which have kept him sidelined. A bit of a wildcard but I believe Gasquet is on the road to a comeback.

    Iveta Benesova +550 (.5u)

Purely a value play. Benesova is a formidable opponent and no way Sharapova should be getting -950 odds against her.

    Azarenka -175

I see Azarenka as a top 5 player. She has done incredibly well this year, amassing over 40 wins and has proven to be a fearsome opponent.

    BOL to you.

    also adding

    Isner -165

Isner is the new Ivo Karlovic, get out of the way when he serves

which one are you most confident about?

  5. #5

Robb - the only thing about Isner is he doesn't break serve much, but then again his serve hardly ever gets broken, i think he mentally can wear people down though because it is so futile to try and break his serve

GoldRush -- all plays are 1 unit, although I'm kind of riding Safin here. He's about to retire and I think he is extremely motivated to go out a winner. He just beat PP and he usually beats himself most of the time, but I think you will see him very motivated the rest of the way.

I really like isner especially at that price.. you feel good about it?

Isner has gone down to -150 at my other book, I'd take it.

zverev is 5-11 on hard courts this year, perfect fodder for isner

take that back hit a nice parlay thanks to him.

will post some plays later tonight

and yea, i imagine anyone who took Tsonga was having heart spasms

  21. #21

    Gilles Simon -300 (3u)

Simon has the pedigree, if he loses this its because of retirement (he has had knee problems) but he rested for a month after the US open. Should be an easy contest

    Berdych +220

Can't ignore Berdych at these odds. Soderling has had a great year, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. This is a no play or take the upset with Berdych..

    Gasquet +210

Another guy I can't stay away from. With his talent he should only be +200 against top tier players. Verdasco is solid but I don't see him staying in the top 10 for very long.

no women's tennis, bad odds for now, plus i'm tired of little girls who can't hold serve, lol

edit: taking Gonzo off the board, head to head history concerns me, adding units to Simon

Men's tennis has been more scary for me. Gonzo was cutting it close, although I knew he would win. Tsonga self-explanatory and Gasquet had a hard time yesterday with Johannsen's serve.

thank God they all won but damn it was stressful.

    Simon -170

I'm riding him the rest of the way, it's his tournament to lose - I think he beats Tsonga in the finals

    Soderling -220

He's beat Davydenko the last 4 times they've played each other, and seems to have the guy's number. Not to mention he's been playing lights out tennis recently.

Not playing the others, bol to you all.

sure, playing them separate though, but a small wager on a parlay of them isn't a bad idea

  34. #34

he just fell apart after being up that break at 4-3, seemed to be cruising to victory..... bleh

will take Simon in the finals tonight, surprised that its Troicki but i would have taken him over tsonga anyway

  35. #35

    Default

    Gilles Simon -210 (3 units)

like i said, Simon wins the tourney here, and you can always feel confident that Simon will not fade mentally or not fight, hes a scrappy player a la Michael Chang of the 90's

    bol to all
