Default U.S. Open: SBR Points Style

Hey fellas. I know most of us tennis guys will be wagering the games with real money, but I figured maybe we could make some interesting wagers for the Open in this thread. I'll be the bookie if needed to make any agreed upon wagers official.

What kind of wagers like futures or head to head matchups to see who goes farther which I think would be good?

head to head matchups, I'd imagine.

I was also imagining what you did - say as in someone bets 5 points that Nadal goes further than Del Potro, etc.

    Offer #1:
    *Who goes further*

    Kim Clijsters or Venus Williams?

I'll take Clijsters. You take Venus. If Clijsters goes further, I get 9 points, if Venus does, you get 7. If both go out in the same round, the wager is a push and no points are exchanged.

    Offer #2
    *Who Goes Further*

    Novak Djokovic or Andy Roddick?

I'll take Roddick. You take Djokovic. Straight up bet for 8 points. Same rules. If they go out in the same round, wager is a push.

First reply to either one will be an accepted wager of SBR points. Wager must be placed before 11:00am ET on Monday to have action. Once first matches begin, all my offers will be void.

Also gonna post my daily picks in this thread so as to not create any more clutter in the forum. If you see a play you are opposite of and want to SBR Point Bet me, ask away! Prices may not be accurate as my book hasn't put the matches up, but they should be in the neighborhod. Three single plays MAX for me each day, maybe one parlay
thrown in when the mood hits.

Futures: Serena +230 (2.5 units), Jankovic +1600 (0.5 units), Del Potro +1100 (0.5 units), Tsonga To Make The Semis +330 (1 unit)

    DAY 1
    1. John Isner -125:
The American was smart by taking off some time before the U.S. Open after playing a pretty extensive hard court summer schedule. Hanescu is a solid, but unspectacular player on hard courts especially. Even though Hanescu is a big guy too (6'6") - his serve does not seem to hold up all that well on a consistent basis. The Romanian's short resume here shows that he should be in for a short trip, he's 1-4 with his only win over clay courter Albert Montanes last year. Isner is just 2-2 here, but this by far his best lead-up to the Open. If he can get by Hanescu, he'll have a sure shot at equaling his best showing here (2007 3rd round), so the incentive should be there. The weather should suit him too as the temps will be in the low 70s where he shouldn't get worn down as much in a longer match. If Isner's serve sparks from Jump Street, he should finish off Hanescu in 4.

    2. Mikhail Youzhny +100: The Russian is far from his best at this stage, but on this surface, he gets a slight nod against Mathieu. Mathieu has never done much of anything at the U.S Open & isn't a great hard court player either. They've played 5 times, but mostly on clay so there isn't much to base head-2-head on IMO because of this. This figures to be a roller coaster ride since both players have the mental stamina of a retarded dwarf, but I think this one will go 4-5 and in their careers, the Russian has the better results in best of 5 formats. I think the OVER for # of games would be a nice option as well, especially if it's around 40 or less.

    3. Andreas Seppi +140: Kohlschreiber really hasn't had a great season. On hard courts, he's been average at-best. Seppi is nothing special either, but he has played some guys tough on the surface (Nadal: 7-6, 7-6). He had his best US Open run in 2008, going to the 3rd round. I've been waiting for Kohlschreiber to "turn the light on" for quite some time now & he just hasn't shown a sense of urgency for the most part. While Seppi doesn't have a great array of weapons, I'm expecting he'll be happy to trade shots with the German from the baselines. If Kohlschreiber allows Seppi to simply sit back & trade shots, waiting for errors - the Italian should have a shot at pulling off an upset.

I'd be interested in betting you on all three, depending on the line.

I'd risk 10 to win 13 on Hanescu.

I'd risk 14 to win 10 on Kohlschreiber.

I'd risk 10 to win 10 on Mathieu.

To make it easier on myself, I just used a 10 unit base.

If you're interested, please accept all three. Thanks.

Isner match far from over. Isner blew his break lead in the 2nd and is about to lose the set in a tie break. If Hanescu wins the 2nd and gets the 3rd, I think he's going to take it. 3rd will be the key.

Again if anyone who checks this thread is on the opposite side and wants to do a SBR Points wager, first replies will be accepted. Will go as with yesterday's - 10 points per wager. So if you're betting a favorite, you get 10 points, the dog will get the nearest rounded up number. So let's say the favorite is -150 and the dog is +130. If you take the fave and win, you get ten. If the dog wins, your opponent would get 13. Onward and upward.

    DAY 2
    1. Florent Serra +100:
Tipsarevic hasn't played much hard court tennis at all this year, while Serra comes in off a momentum building performance at New Haven. Tipsarevic rarely gets past the first round at the U.S. Open & Serra is a solid, battling type. The Frenchman has played Ljubicic tough on the surface and beat Rajeev Ram & more impressively, Jeremy Chardy at New Haven. If he brings a solid serve, he can win in this spot.

    2. Rajeev Ram -140: Ram has been on a decent run since winning the Newport grass tournament this summer. On hard court, he equipped himself well beating Gulbis, playing Ljubicic tough and beating Mardy Fish. This will be his best shot at gaining his first U.S. Open main draw win and the American should be confident against Ouanna who hasn't done much on outdoor hard courts.

    3. [Parlay] Andreev -625, F.Lopez -210, Querrey -1400, Jankovic -1000 (Pays 1.09:1)
Favorable match-ups across the board as Andreev gets the inexperienced Witten. Andreev played well in New Haven last week and was a strong player at the Open last year. Lopez figures to work the most to win against Dent. Lopez isn't in a solid groove, but his serve has the ability to carry him through. Dent also has a big serve, but it is a bit more inconsistent. Jankovic should break Vinci plenty of times. Hopefully she can use those extra opportunities to work on her serve. Querrey should have little trouble with Yani who has had some Challenger success on hard court, but does not have the main draw experience.
