Excellent selection on the Tsonga future. Too bad Fed didn't play this one out in full. :-)

Indeed. That Tsonga future just got some massive value now regardless of who advances.

    ATP Doha: Nadal-Monfils Under 21.5 [-120]
My two cents here is that Monfils is being given a lot of credit for beating Troicki who played like absolute shite yesterday. In looking at the history here, there is obviously something about Nadal's game that really troubles Monfils. Outside of the win in Doha in 2009, Monfils has won one set out of the last 12 that these two have played and most of the sets have been lopsided. I think Nadal has steadily improved this week and the health concerns I had heading in here have definitely eased. He could have really crushed Youzhny yesterday, but seemed like he lost some focus in the 2nd set. Still won in 20 games. The biggest positive for Nadal this week has been his serve which has been a bit steadier than I've seen in a while. I think we'll see a big difference today if Monfils' 1st serve isn't getting him enough points and the 2nd serve becomes the issue. A returner of Nadal's caliber will pounce and pound that.

Seven breaks of serve in the 2nd set with Wawrinka-Soeda. Some terrible fukkin tennis. Fade Soeda hard next match. Wawrinka should have his license to play tennis revoked. You sir are the first to make my Black List.

Guess I gotta say Go LaMonf now for purposes of the under. Doof is playing solid tennis. Although I think it is inevitable he drops this set. Cannot see him straight setting Rafa.

I will take that happy mother fudgin accident! All French final. Best news for us Tsonga futures holders hopefully. Monfils should open as the slight dog [I hope & really should be in spite of today], might advise if you're hedging to get on it quick as I would not be shocked to see this take on a pick 'em vibe by the time the match starts.

In any case, a hedge with Monfils will be much more profitable than what we would have had to spend on Nadal.

    WTA Parlay: Pennetta + Myrni/Nestor [+108]
Pennetta has been lights out in Auckland and draws someone in Zheng who she matches up very well against on this surface. As long as Pennetta continues with her focused service games, she should continue to win. Myrni & Nestor draw Lindstedt-Tecau in doubles in Brisbane. They were 4-1 against this duo in 2011. This team won the end of the year doubles Championship and will be looking to advance to the finals in Brisbane with a win today. They might be a tad rusty in the opening set due to a lack of match play since they got a walkover last round, but they should outlast this duo.

    WTA Hobart Qualis: Vandeweghe -140
Coco takes on Oprandi for the second time already this season. She beat Oprandi in straight sets in Auckland earlier this week. Oprandi has had success on this surace, but all mostly at the ITF level. Both won their quali openers. Vandeweghe over American Sloane Stephens and Oprandi over Tsurenko. If Coco serves well like she did last week in their Auckland meeting, she should survive again.

Yeah I was hoping for a little better price on Monfils, but anything at plus money is a worthy hedge. Match seems like a total toss-up so I think a hedge is very much in order. I'm going for enough to win half a unit no matter what way it shakes out.

Ito has been a mainstay on the Challenger circuit the last year plus with good results on hard courts. I think that's more of his niche, but he's got enough game I think to do like he is here ... step up to the ATP level in spots and grab a couple wins. At least that's what I recall from his results over the last year.

ATP Parlay: Berdych + Tipsarevic [-120]
Berdych takes on Gasquet in the Hopman Cup finale. The indoor surface should favor Berdych more-so as it is somewhat comparable to the faster Aussie Open surface that Berdych whipped Gasquet on last year. The modest success Gasquet has had on this surface normally comes in France. while Berdych beat some of the top players on this surface late last year in Ferrer, Murray, Tipsarevic and he pushed Djokovic to a 3rd set tie break. If his serve holds as well as it has most of the week, Berd is the word. Tipsarevic draws Soeda and quite frankly unless he's high, drunk and leg-less ... he should roll with his power game.

Hedged with Monfils to guarantee a profit, but got a little bit more with Tsonga winning. Be nice to see JWT stay healthy this year. Could be a threat at the hard court Slams.

I figured I might as well get in good practice for it. This week helped me get the initial frustration out of my system and also to remind me of a few things not to do, like adding three plays into a parlay, etc. I think it's good for us to play these tourneys, kind of like our exhibition season to prepare for the regular season which really starts with the Aussie Open. Best of luck!

ATP Auckland Quali Parlay: Kamke + Mello [+110]
Kamke never quite became the breakout candidate some believed him ready to be last year after a solid 2010 on the Challenger circuit. He did finish extremely well on that circuit in 2011 though on indoor hard courts. This surface should favor him well today against Marti who is a dirt baller and rarely steps out to play on this surface. Kamke serves well, Kamke wins. Mello is a guy I have outlined before isn't your typical Brazilian, he actually plays well on hard courts. He plays de Voest who is your definition of a tour pro. He grinds and grinds, mostly at the Challenger level now. He can play, but normally against guys who rate a bit higher than him on the surface, he crumbles. Mello played real well against Muller in Brisbane before losing in 3. If he plays anywhere close to that level, should be good enough today.

    WTA Hobart Qualifier: Oprandi -160
Oprandi really dressed down Vandeweghe in the 2nd set yesterday after fighting through a tough tie break in the 1st. She's certainly been far more impressive than Wozniak to me. Wozniak beat a solid player in Marino, but she's presenting far too many break opps for her opponent. 34 in two rounds of qualis. She did a better job saving them vs. Marino, but if you leave that many dangling out there, you're asking for trouble. If Oprandi can keep her service games solid, she should have the chance to move on.
