Default are you comfortable keeping 5 or 6 figure balances in offshore books?

    what do you guys think?

Im no where near 5 or 6 figures in any of my accts, but have a buddy that has low 5 figs in 1 book.

I cant imagine carrying that much in an acct, especially when there really isnt anything you can do legally if these books don't pay...

    anyone with thoughts on this?

I don't play at any books which I am concerned about holding a 5 figure sum.

Of them all the only one with the slightest of concerns is Matchbook.
Not based on anything to do with my experiences with them but on the basis of stuff I've read on this forum.

I feel just as safe with my money in Heritage than Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, my local bank. I am very comfortable with Heritage and never once even thought for a second my money would be in danger. That is the only book that I feel this way about.

Back in much better days, I used to have 5 figure accounts for months at a time at Pinnacle, Greek and/or BetCris and wasn't nervous in the slightest. Of course, it depends on the book. At one point I had such an account at WSEX as well, and though it didn't phase me back then, today I would be terrified if that were the case with WSEX falling apart.....

I've kept and cashed out over 100k at Jazette. I spoke with someone recently who has a quarter of his NW (substantial by most metrics) in D rated books.

Risk management depends on the book in question.

comfortable----no. concerned------no. i try not to not worry about the money, while knowing anything may happen and i would have no legal recourse. but there is really no choice if you are going to do this. luckily i have been doing this for many years, so i look at it this way. if i lose everything i have out in every book----i would still have had a great run. the real scary part was at the begining when it was all my cash.

Anybody who's not concerned is an idiot. I do it because that concern is part of getting better than 11-10 and having a shot to win---but I'm always concerned about all of them.

okay I must be an idiot then !

so which books do you have significant funds at that cause you this concern?

I will never worry about keeping a large balance in Matchbook. Because they are only the middler. They never win/lose to you.

i only concern myself with things i have some control over. once i send any book my money it is in thier full control. i only count it as winning when i get it back, not when i hit a game. why worry about something you have no control over. just more productive things to do with time.

you've lost me with that logic

they've a history for granting credit to big players and being stiffed

they operate on low margins and (it seems) low turnover of recent times

certainly not immune from losing their money .. and I'm not convinced that player money is kept separate from their own - they could be losing your money too

I couldn't disagree more strongly with this point of view.

    That's a real loser's attitude.

It is MY MONEY until I lose it, not the book's money.

I send it to them for safe holding to secure bets I make with them.

If I held your point of view I'd never deposit money with any book.

That is very much under my control.

it is my money, just don't count it as winnings til i get it home

thier is no book i would send my money to for safe keeping.

if i held your point of view i would never deposit

you have no control once they have your money.

i've been doing well for many years and probably you are too. or else why do it. different strokes for different folks. i live in the US. it is my money either way but it only counts to me when i get it back.

unless they grant you credit you have to deposit first - those funds are held on my behalf, not for the book to deal with as they like (and with the possible exception of Matchbook, the books I've got it at are as good as many banks - some with virtual government guarantees)

stick with genuine A grade books in government regulated and supervised jurisdictions and you'll lose no sleep over it

you can afford to feel more confident about your money, you do not live in the US. just completely different -- things happen - then toss in it being illegal - i count it as winnings when i get it home. once i get it home put in my bank. i feel a little better. but my goverment guarante for bank funds is not going to mean much to anyone if everyone wants thier money at the same time, like i said i do feel better, i have legal avenues to get my money from a bank. good luck beating books. i'm glad you have the law availible. you are more free than us here in the US.

Stay with the known reliable books to cash and you will be fine

You need to think in terms of percentages as well as the aggregate amount. Big difference having 10k in a book when your bankroll is 30k vs 1m.

Weird that you won it playing poker(which means taking it from other players and not the sportsbook) and you had trouble getting paid.
