Default Canbet asking for my live photo beside ID!

I am from the UK. I requested my first withdrawal from Canbet to Moneybookers and they asked for my ID docs. I sent them the scanned docs but they replied:

Unfortunately we were unable to approve your documents as these are cropped. We need un-cropped copies of all your documents.

By un-cropped we mean that we need to see the full image of the documents even the empty paper on the sides. Any document that has been cropped will not be accepted. Also, please take a photo of yourself holding your Driver’s License or passport close to your face. Please ensure the photo and data are visible, otherwise we will not be able to verify your identity. We may request for you to resend the photo and this will delay your validation process. Also, send the passport or drivers license scanned copy in color.

Everything is perfectly normal as far as I know, no problems of any kind with them upto this email. Is this normal?! I mean I could even go to the trouble of doing a very good scan in colour again (the ones I sent them weren't so bad in the first place) but then "take a photo of yourself holding your ID close to your face"??? Is this guy having a laugh? I transact through a hundred sites online and have never been asked for something like this. Among sportsbooks, Pinny's Declaration Form is as far as it goes for me.
Anyone with experience with Canbet? What can I do? Its the principle of the matter really. Isn't this harassment of us sports betting players (and online consumers in general)?

    Thanks for any help.

Just do it if you want your funds. It is becoming a growing trend. It does make some sense.

Canbet are a crap book these days so withdraw the lot and bet with good books in future

What are you doing at Canbet anyway? Stick with solid books, like Pinny.

That's really paranoid ID checking tactics. I guess they might find out marginally more frauds this way, but it's huge nuisance for all players. Canbet sucks...

    Thanks for the replies..

Any idea what happens if I refuse to send them the photo? Like if I close the account, they can't confiscate the funds?

in short you won't get your money

they do have to comply with ID legislation which is getting tougher

I suspect that you may soon find that this is going to be common practice where books are subject to strict government regulation such as in the UK and Australia - a small price to pay for security

as to what happens to your funds - again I think the legislation would require them to be treated as "unclaimed money" and forwarded to the government pending you making a claim on them

They're just trying it harder for you to withdraw; hoping that you won't bother. Your ID should be enough. Holding your ID next to your face. LOL

Canbet changed ownership some years ago. Used to be a top book. Now just a scam book.

Never had such a check at any other bookie.
But if you won't send them what they ask, you won't see your money again...

I think they would refund your initial deposit or something if you don't send it. That said, I recently updated my address details with them and for security measures they also wanted a photo copy of ID. I was not requested to take a pic of me holding the passport. Nor did I have to when I started my account there.

I doubt they would even refund the deposit, most anti money laundering legislation requires it to be paid to a government holding fund.

    FFS! What's the big deal?
If the docs are yours just do it if you want your money.
If you've stolen the docs you have a problem eh?

I'm more surprised you managed to complete the WR. Ridiculous to lay off, you could end up with £1m there and never complete a £500 roll over.

I have never heard something like that before. It sounds like a joke, but I expect that you will not get your money before you gave them the requested photo.

Do not be naive, there will be no winnings and no deposit returned to anyone, as Canbet imposes an inactivity fee until account balance drops to zero.

UK residents can play at every great book in the world; books I would kill to have an account with... and you play at Canbet?

The gambling gods should have you exiled to America for this.

What can you do? Send it to them. That's about it. Unless there is a reason why you cannot.

What if a person gets into some sort of terrible accident or fire and their face is permanently disfigured and no longer looks the same as the photo on the ID?
