Portlandbet
Not answering phones or emails, all bet lines down, and they took their phone number off the website. I'm 90% of my way through a bonus requirement, so can't even withdraw manually.
Anyone heard anything concrete?

The last I read about Portlandbet was that they closed down back in February, 2008 and then reopened under new management sir. Let me see what I can find about them currently. Meanwhile, If you feel you ever need some assistance with your issues. You are always welcome to fill out a complaint form and one of us will try to inquire to them on your behalf.

If you are talking about Portlandbet in Oz, it is now owned by Terry Lillis from Centreracing. Stand-up guy.

Heeehaww,
We will see if we can get in touch with previous contacts. You are the first to mention the down time. Have you tried +61 2-6213-3666 ?

Thanks guys.... yes, I called several times, within their office hours (9-5 aussie east coast time). Also tried a number I found in a Canberra phonebook, ends 3646. Both just ring endlessly.
Should mention I can still logon, and a bet was graded even after their lines went a few days back.

First off, Welcome to the SBR forum sir.
Considering they are an Australian bookmaker, I sure would think they would be. Because books over there are about as safe as safe can get in regards to security of funds.

I have a couple of £k's in here and am unable to do anything with it. When I go to withdraw it tells me max allowed is £0, for all withdrawal methods.
Starting to get worried now that they will not be paying out.

I just registered here - the main reason is Portlandbet. They are off already 3 days, my funds are stuck in there. Due to the withdrawal requirements I can not request a withdrawal. The do not answer e-mails, do not answer phone calls. I think a regulated bookmaker should inform its customers what is happening. If they go bankrupt they should refund our money as soon as possible. I intend to contact any authority who would be able to help me against such unprofessional behaviour.
Thanks in advance for your help.

"This was posted on another forum. "As of 1 July 2008, Portland bet is no longer trading. Their financial position is currently being assessed. The Commission is working with Portland Bet on obtaining a list of outstanding debts owed to punters. As required by all sports bookmakers when first licensed, a security guarantee has been lidged with the commission which is designed to cover unpaid punters funds up to the limit of the guarantee. Portland bet or the commission are currently not in a position to give any definitive advice on when any outstanding debts may be settled. When the Commission receives a full list of all account holders and any outstanding amounts these will be considered in due course in the context of the security guarantee and any other funds that may be available." Couldn't find any more info on the web. This was posted on Rpoints at 12 but its from another forum not sure where they got it from though ....."

Thanks angel.
I guess the question then is what exactly "no longer trading" means. Is it an organised windown because they realise they've got no longterm profitability, like Ascot? Or have they severely run out of funds. I'm hoping regulation would make the latter a lot less likely, but that might just be wishful thinking.
For the record, I have $3k in there. Not too terrible, but obviously wouldn't mind getting it back

Can someone please clarify what protection is offered to players' funds with Australian sportsbooks. Can we expect to get all of our funds back even if we haven't completed the WR?

I know some people who were paid in the order of a few thousand pounds just at the start of this week, so this might indicate that there is still some cash there. Hopefully anyway ...

They're almost certainly going to pay out, I know people who have been paid as recently as today.
The problem is for those of us (including myself) who've never had a withdrawal from them previously and need them to approve our ID and deal with outstanding bonus balances, when they're not answering emails.
