Default Tennis retiring rules question

Is there a standard rule for how many sets must be completed for a wager to stand when a player retires?

Or is every book different and have different rules?

Several categories, check here:

Edit: sorry forgot, you'll need to be a forum member to view. Basically it's a list of all bookies, with their rules for voiding. They split into categories depending on what's needed for the bet to be valid: ball served, one set completed, two sets (rare, but includes pinnies/greek/betdaq), or match completed.

I've read some different rules depending the book, in general 2 complete sets would be your ideal situation Frank, or else it would be a no action regardless of who advances.

Damn I have had 4 bets so far this tourney that had players retire and I have lost all the ones losing and had no action on all the ones winning because of the different rules.

Gasquet up 2 sets today but I played it at a full match book.

I remember a lot of books changed their tennis rules on retirements and rain delays back in 2005 range, and if I recall correctly. It was prompted by all those rain delays at the U.S. Open that year.

Bodog requires the match to be completed, no exceptions. They also have a 72 hour completion rule, meaning if the match is rain delayed and does not finish within 72 hours, it's voided. This rule actually helped me out last year at Wimbledon. Had Canas big and he lost but took 73 hours to finish due to all the rain delays. They first graded as a loss but I reminded them of this rule and they refunded my money.

I believe at 5Dimes, matches are official after the first set.

Just checked and Bodog no longer has the 72 hour rule.

I think the consensus right now is 2 full sets, although there are obviously exceptions. It used to be that the consensus was one set, but that changed after the Davydenko "fix".

the only 2 i can think of that are 2 sets are pinny and the greek, the rest are a mix of 1 point,1 set and full match.

That is what I thought LT but we are wrong.

Hardly any books use 2 sets.

Here is the list from the link that HEEEEHAWW posted:

Ladbrokes seem to be the only high stakes bookie left who still work on ball served. Kinda asking for trouble in the current climate.

Sorry guys. I guess I was under that impression because besides 5 Dimes, my other outs are 2 sets.
