Default IASBet: cancels bets from 4 months ago & closes account, claiming correlated parlays

    dear fellow sportsbettors,

I had over 7000 EUR in my IASBet (Rated B on SBR) account up until November the 10th. IASBet has now closed my account, they claim that i made correlated bets on july the 15th.
furthermore they say that they would send me my remaining balance.
they didnt give me further informations about the particular bet(s?) and amounts of the bets and my new balance and there is no way to reconstruct this for me at all. all i know is they decided will give me less than my original balance.

i dont think this is legal and i don't agree with the fact that one side is able to cancel a bet that they accepted 4 month (!) ago (and their rules weren't different back then).

when two parties make a contract - and thats what a bet essentially is - then it stands and there's no way that one contractor can consider it invalid at any point in time while the other contractor can't.

this is just the worst practice ever. i am already in contact with the racing commission of the Northern Territory Government of Australia and i also filed a complaint here on sbr.

    kind regards

Bets don't count as contracts under UK law. I'd be surprised if Oz law was different. Still sounds like you have good grounds for complaint. Good luck.

File a complaint. If verified, they should be much, much lower rated.

To be fair though, IASBet has been telling players to go to hell for awhile. I doubt they will do anything unless a govnermental body threatens to close them down.

Justin must be the only honest guy left at SBR.
I find it unbelievable that they know this, and rate them as a big phat B

no matter how low iasbet might have sunk, the aussie regulators (unlike many other regulators) are able to step in. make sure they understand your case completely and if you are really being screwed here they'll help

I have done this, even got a confirmation via email.

they gave me only 2400€ of the 7100€ and the racing commission is investigating currently.
i gave them proof that i had 7100€ in my account and i also showed them all my bets and transaction that i was able to view through the system when i was able to login the last time on november the 9th.

    we'll see what happens!

A book not giving you money due to correlated parlays is just ridiculous. All they have to do is set up their site not to take certain pars, like a lot of sites do. If they in fact accept the bets, it's their bad, not yours. I hope you get your money back.

yep, by "racing commission" i meant the racing commission of the northern territory. i sent them screenshots/printouts of my balance and all the bets and transactions that were accessible (i couldnt access bets/transactions older than august though; i couldnt see any of the possibly cancelled bets).
i also obviously explained them that it is unfair to accept bets and later decide not to take responsibility for them anymore, once the customer didnt bust the amount won but made even more with the money and then decided to cash out.

    hopefully that complaint will help!

yeah, since Mark Read sold out to that miserable Irish attention-seeker, Paddy Power who are now wrecking a once excellent book, as they are also doing at Sportsbet.com.au

Got a statement from the racing commission. They didn't say anything specific, but just quoted a bunch of IAS-rules regarding parlays and human errors and finished the letter with:

In this case the Racing Commission is satisfied that IASbet, have acted appropriately and within its rules by voiding your wagers and by closing your account.

how about listing for us the bets involved so that we can make our own judgements on them?

they are still an excellent racing bookie
but their sports are now a waste of time at least for me with absurdly low limits imposed since Paddy Power took over
I've played with them almost since they were first launched and never been treated unfairly - whatever else their faults, they aren't crooks - Oz bookies are so strictly regulated that they'd not get away with cheating

I have been with them for about a month right now and I didn't see any problems yet. However, the "missing" withdrawal function is just strange.

Wasn't Canbet affilated with IASbet at one point? Canbet pulled the same crap with voiding CPs, although I think that was after Canbet moved to the UK.

The unwillingness of the OP to post the parlays is a little curious...

i parlayed baseball-games from regular season and series/pennant winners as far as i remember it. i didnt get any details through ias or the commission though and, as i already mentioned, was unable to see bets from july the alst time i logged in.
so the bets were made in july, i probably parlayed winners of games with winners of the pennants or something.

i dont see how that affects anything though, since obviously they shouldve cancelled it right away or cashed the tickets.

I suggest you get back to the regulator, explain that you no longer have access to your account transactions and ask for the details of bets which they consider were correlated and why they considered them to be so.

But there certainly does appear to be some degree of correlation in what you think you backed. Sure, their software shouldn't let you bet them but in the end the published rules over-ride everything.

And really, everyone should be keeping their own records of bets made.

If you parlayed game winners with division winners, I see nothing wrong with them booting you.

I have a problem with spreads and totals since every book uses a different limit on what is ok, but no one lets you bet Yankees to beat Red Sox and Yankees to win their division.

IAS have gone massively downhill recently. The way they limit people has almost become laughable. Plenty of better books to play at!

that's very true of their sportsbook but their racing product is still worth maintaining an account for

I am not complaining about their software taking the bets accidentally. I am complaining about them waiting 4 months to cancel the bets and obviously hoping that i bust my account before i withdraw.

If i wouldve just lost the money back to them they wouldnt have to admit the mistake, if i would withdraw the bets wouldve been cancelled. thats not what i consider a fair policy and it shows you they were not comfortable with the situation.

their support also only answered once a week, once my account was closed and while i was trying to figure out whats the problem.
