    Default Banned from Sports Books

So I'm reading that people get banned from sports books. Is this normal? How do people professionally bet on sports if books will ban you for winning? I understand if you are getting in seconds before lines move because you have some sort of inside information but if you are just making solid picks and winning are you more than likely to get banned if you have a good month or good year? If there a dollar amount? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

This was answered already in the other thread. Books will not ban you unless you try to cheat them and then they will close your account. If you are a winner, might take years, but anyways they will limit you. The only book I know which boots a player is SIA, once you hit there magic number. But don't feel insulted....feel honored.

I wouldn't worry about, and by the time you need to worry about it you'll have found the answer.

Thanks for the responses. I guess if I get banned I'm doing something right.

I've been limited at scores of books, most to the extent that it is not worthwhile continuing to maintain an account with them but I've only ever been "banned" if you call it that by VIP which simply closed my account and remitted the balance without any explanation.

I suppose Wm Hill is the next closest. They simply limited my bets to $0.00 on everything but I had to apply to get my money out, they didn't kick me out like VIP did.

I've also been limited at quite a few, the only one to outright ban me so far is VictorChandler.

I consider limiting to trivial amounts the same as a ban. Who is gonna keep an account with $5 or $10 limits?

    Agree with durito.

Hard boot (closed account) or soft boot (absurd limits), it it really all the same. If anything, I respect the books like SIA or VIP that will just throw you out without the $5 limit BS step first.

this is why you bet on matchbook (a betting exchange). no reason to ban you.

If you bet consistently without cheating and you will 4 or 5k a book should not throw you out right?

A few Euro books boot, vic and paddypower come to mind. In a way that's preferable, more honest than simply limiting to 0.02 max bet.

    wrong!
    ALL Euro books do it
but I agree that it would be far better that they simply tell you to go away rather than impose limits without the courtesy of any advice to that effect

A local forum poster just banned book is "offsidebet" it is famous about it's livebets.
firstly he noticed that there isn't any deposit methods and asked to CS "where is the deposit methods is there any technical problem?"

"no sir. you will not anymore, we don't want"

unfortunately I've found that there are some books that will limit you to the extreme after just a few bets even if you are losing

It would be funny if a book limit you for $5 or $10 and you play a ten team parlay and win betting only $10.

if you win they will ban you. if you lose they will ban you. don't worry government books are coming soon.

Not so easy. The Euros ban you by total win, so your bet allowed on a parlay may only be 10 cents (if you are allowed to bet $10 straight).
