Online Poker and Gambling Sites Targets of DDOS Attack

Online gambling sites have been under distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks recently. The attackers weren’t just targeting poker sites but rather gambling sites in general for the past week or so. Some were attacked for a few hours and others for a few days. Each attack is designed to overwhelm the websites with tons of bogus GET requests. The desired result of the attacker is to completely disrupt service to the website (hence denial of service). Most of the sites attacked were Russian gaming sites, but other well-known poker sites affected were FullTiltPoker.com, TitanPoker.com, CDPoker.com, and VirginPoker.com.

Didn't this happen during the Superbowl about 3/4 years ago (Pats/Panthers)? I heard books were paying some $$$ to the attackers to stop.

I can't exactly remember the time frame on it Rob, however their was a series of Doss attacks a few years back. Some books did pay and some didn't.

hackers designed the internet. They own the internet, we are just peons that give them air, water, and money.
