Ask them if they paid out on the miami side.....Sounds like u knew that u were taking a shot at them.

Default wow, this is such a tough call in my mind

this happens becasue both of you are at fault. they should have this worded super clearly, they do not. if they meant include sign and trades, it should say it. if i was going to put a large wager on something like this, im getting in writing from the book exactly what there rules are (in advance). as for a solution, i dont have one.

christ joe, he called them! does he need a contract signed in blood?

but also because any "sign and trade" made with another team could also conceivably been graded the winner.

You knew you were shooting at them. No sympathy, dude, sorry. You should never have made the bet. They should have been more clear, but they're the ones holding the money, you're the one trying to angle shoot, by your own admission. "Conceivably" you'll get your money. "Conceivably"

why not get this in writing. so many people called in advance and not one has an email saying so????????? if u had it in writing, u are right and they are wrong.

I called them and confirmed that Cleveland would be the winner of this market if they signed and then traded Lebron

I hear you, but he does have a valid point when he contacted them and they said a sign and trade would count and he traded the contract based on this.

  19. #19

Default if there is an email saying that

sign and trade counts as the team signed with, then it should be a winner. a client cant be asked to do more then email for clarification in advance when rules are ambiguous. assuming there is an email saying so, i side with the player(s) here

purdue99, Since you had 200 contracts on Cle with the thought of winning if he stayed or left with a sign & trade deal, did you think of talking to the interactive/wagering person on duty instead of trying to get a clarification with the Antiguan cs reps that know nothing other than the checks will be processed next week?

Strict interpretation of the wording makes you a winner. However, there would of been a huge outcry if WSEX paid on Cle and left the Miami bettors high and dry. Come to think of it, WSEX might leave the Miami bettors high & dry too.

I doubt he cut a deal. When that happens the poster reports it with the usual they are the best sportsbook blah...blah.

I'm sure the complaint is pending to get resolved. In the interim perhaps this whole thread should be deleted with a response from Purdue on the outcome. It is a little ironic since he was slamming the book warning others to "stay away" only to completely retract.

I wonder what all the other books did on this wager?

Lebron signed with Cleveland. He'll play in Miami.

If the prop said who will Lebron sign with Cleveland is the winner. If it said where will he play next year Miami is the winner. It's that simple.

how could someone be confident enough to even keep the funds necessary for the wager in WSEX?

  31. #31

probably he settled under confidentiality, so others that bet on cle know nothing

Considering pay-outs are running several months behind there isn't much choice other than to wait or play-out remaining funds.

    Purdue,
The wager was correctly settled with Miami being the winner so WSEX doesn't owe you anything.
intrade had the same language in their lebron contract and graded lebron.cleveland a winner
SCDavis, this is an outright lie as Intrade graded Miami as the winner.

The Lebron James market was expired in accordance with the market rules namely the Miami Heat contract expired at 100 and all other contracts at 0.

For the avoidance of doubt the market rules state that a contract will expire at 100 if "if LeBron James signs a contract to play for the team specified in the contract". A sign-and-trade contract is not a contract to "to play".

Purdue and others got a raw deal. Sportsbooks like 5Dimes worded the same prop as "who will Lebron announce on Saturday?" Purdue actually won his bet the which was who will Lebron sign with. Who will Lebron commit to would have been another way to phrase it. Some cappers surely took the sign and trade into consideration when they capped it.
