Biloxi MS Hotels/Casinos???

Ive stayed at the Bea Rivage Hotel/Casino a few times pre Katrina, and it was very nice, and we always had a good time. Can anyone tell me if the Isle Of Capri Hotel/Casino is as nice or nicer?

Or what is the nicest Hotel/Casino in Biloxi now? Thanks.

The Beau Rivage is the nicest hotel in Mississippi. I don't know if you have been to Biloxi lately but it is a ghost town. I lived there for a while a few years ago and just went down just to look around, it was unbelievable. You'll probably be the only guests in the hotel.

I helped when the original casino in Philadelphia, MS, was starting up, and used to frequent Biloxi a fair amount then. Granted this was all pre-Katrina. I always found the lighting and atmosphere at the Beau Rivage to be ultra-stuffy, and quite frankly didn't like it. Nothing like seeing Florida Panhandle trailer trash pretending to be snooty high rollers lol. The best all around imo was the Grand, as they had a vast assortment of games and a big poker room.

On the flip side, I always thought the Imperial Palace was a complete lowbrow dump pre-Katrina, but have heard they've added a poker room and improved somewhat. Have fun, Biloxi is (or used to be) a great hidden secret...

By the way, the two casinos in Philadelphia, Mississippi, are terrific hidden secrets. The Golden Moon in particular is pretty nice, and they offer tremendous comps for very low-level play (particularly after you've lived in Vegas). You can get a round at the golf course and a $250 meal at a 5 star restaurant for like 4 hours of green ($25) play.

Don't know how knowledgeable you about history, but the remnants of the entire Choctaw civilization are out of there. They've got some pretty cool museums and such, and it's kind of wild to see women walking around in traditional Choctaw garb and such.

If you have any other questions about casinos in Vegas, AC, CT, Tunica, California, England, Ireland, or Australia feel free to ask and I'll do my best to give you the lowdown...

Thanks for the replies guys, at this point the wife and I will go back to the Beau Rivage in a couple weeks, unless someone can convince me there is a nicer hotel.The wife doesnt gamble, so its important for there to be plenty of things for her to do during the daytime, and the Beau Rivage kept her happy on previous visits.

BigBollocks, LOL my friend, and I know you didnt mean anything personal, but I live in Panama City Beach. I dont know how long its been since youve been in the FL Panhandle, but we arent all poor rednecks anymore, at least those of us who live on the coast.

I live in Biloxi part of the year, yes the Beau is still by far the nicest place to stay. And trust me, it's far from a ghost town these days, plenty of action. They are building a Margaritaville casino where the old Grand and Casino Magic used to be, when that is done that will be the new go-to place in the area.

The Isle is up and running, appears to be as good as always though they are much slower now than they used to be. The bridge being out all this time from Ocean Springs didn't do that place any favors.

BTW there is a brand new Hard Rock open these days as well. Depending what you want to spend (and how old you are) those rooms are SWEET from what I hear.

Where abouts in PCB are you from Capitalist? My grandfather was actually one of the first surgeons in Panama City many moons ago, and my mother is from there. Needless to say she doesn't recognize the place now, but does wish she'd held on to the property lol

I obviously didn't realize you were from Florida, and just made that remark simply due to the sheer number of people there from Florida. Obviously based on where Biloxi is located, as well as the population of Florida, the greatest number of tourists at any time are going to be from FL. I'm sure we can agree one or two of them aren't perhaps the most sophisticated.

I lived there for 3 years pre Katrina. I have not been back since then but my dad has been twice and said the Imperial Palace has been greatly improved. I was a big fan of the Grand but from what I heard it is small scale now. I agree with Bullocks about the Beau. Never liked their attitude at all as they were not to customer friendly. The Isle was always to noisy for me. Have fun and lets us know how your trip goes.

When I moved here back in the late 80s, your Moms land was very undervalued, now it would be worth a fortune regardless what part of the beach it was at.

LOL, yea your right, they didnt call this area the Redneck Riviera for nothing.

You're right Pokernut, Imperial Palace poker room is very nice now. Most of the poker action is either there or the Beau. The Beau has the bigger games but IP is every bit as busy. Other than those two all you have is Isle, Boomtown and Hard Rock for poker, not much to choose from of those three.

There won't be much for your wife to do. I don't know what brand of crack these dudes are smoking but I was just in Biloxi and it was a ghost town. Perhaps if all one wants to do is hang out in casinos it is okay. I didn't go to any casinos. I just wanted to see what things were like after Katrina. It looks like a big hurricane devestated the place not too long ago.
