Default More Betting Exchanges are Needed

Anyone who does not try and get the best lines possible is wreckless, and deserves to lose all their money. Matchbook has the best odds and lowest commissions in the industry, and if there was more competition the lines would be even better. Tradesports and TradeBetX were Matchbook's only real competition but closed for whatever reason. My guess is that it was too hard for US players to fund their accounts. Now that it has become easier to get funds transferred into and out of players accounts they need to reopen. I hope I can get a few sharpies out their to join alliances with me and get the word out about the need for more exchanges. I like Matchbook a great deal but still have a complaint or two about their software. Its true exotic bets like reverses, teasers, parlays are not at exchanges, but in progress lines are available and make up for that. Now a days more and more cel phones have internet capabilities so floating out wagers should not be much of an inconvienience if you find yourselves not close to a computer.

I completely agree with this post, 99% of bettors give large amounts of money away every day by not playing at Matchbook, all betting should be exchange betting.

Wouldn't more exchanges weaken liquidity across the board?

I'd rather have one mega exchange for US sports, as Betfair has for Euro without premium charges of course

I don't know why Matchbook can't be that exchange but some of the reasons are obvious.

    1) Lack of marketing
    2) Lack of educating
    3) Poor CS (they don't listen to their client base, and seem to be close-minded to suggestions on making it better)

    Just to name a few.

As we increase our wagering limits in the next month or so we are expecting an increase in front end volume which should give some opportunities to members of the Parlaymakers exchange to have some decent liquidity and opportunities to get offers matched. As the liquidity increases it should be easier to get offers matched for Parlaymakers exchange members because the system is more user friendly in allowing you to put up multiple offers on your available balance. Also, the ability to have your offer adjust dynamically against the Parlaymaker line makes it easier to just set your offer and forget it instead of having to monitor all the time. It might be something for you to keep an eye on as we move forward.

onematchbook is laready enough. If there were more exchanges in this industry, the liquidities will be spread out. odds would be worst..

There needs to be a decent competitor for betfair certainly, they've got very greedy with premium charge and the bots.

yes a competitor , but 2 or 3 large exchanges are better than many , like it was said earlier , to many will ruin liquidity

Blackieeeeeeeeee!! If he gets his up and going and makes it competitive with Match i.e. deposits/withdraws and commission structure--you will have all you need in North/South America (of course if the UIGEA is repealed or crippled significantly--then more could survive)

Who am I to criticize Zeljko. He is god in this bussiness. However, I wish he would grow WBX instead of using it as his personal arb factory.

Exactly. Some competition might drive the commission charges down a little.

If you bet baseball you would. The money you save is too much to leave on the table.

Maybe in commission, and lack of premium charge, but nowhere near true in terms of market range / depth.

I don't think Tradesports and TradeBetX closed because it's hard for US players to fund their accounts. They didn't had volume because they couldn't promote it. To start a new exchange you need a lot of original investment and they need to undercut MB commission which next to impossible to do and then I doubt if more than 10% of MB customers will open another account with new exchange.
Even now, lots of people bet on baseball at Betfair when there's better commission structure at MB.
Based on this I don't see any competition in the near future.

Working on it. Should have details up by the last week of July for everyone to see. Like most of my projects it will be unique in concept and structure. Don't want to give to much away until we get closer to football.

You are bang on Trumpy,i tried to fund my old matchy account using a walmart ****,however they didn't offer cards in U.S. dollars in Canada.
i than tried to use those ********** assh*les to send us$ through a old and unused royal bank account in u.s. funds but they wanted me convert my us$ into can$ and they(**********)would f*ck me up by converting the money themselves and charge me a harm and leg in the process.
Therefore because of this sh*t i open a BOOKMAKER account instead because they take can$ and have high NHL limits along with a great C.S. and a world class professionally run book!

    BLACKIE your the man
i appreciate greatly that you take the time to monitor SBR and answer our questions but for the love of god old chum please have a can$ option!(our money is the most valuable and stable in the world!!)
I don't know what is going on here in stupid Canada but to send us$ to a book his like pulling teeth with a pair of pliers these days all of a sudden.
I am hoping like the dickens that you will have the exchange up and running soon,we need you and so does MATCHBOOK,you will give them that kick in the ass that they so direly need.
I disagree with those whom worry about liquidity issues, why should anyone that is serious about sports betting go anywhere but to 2 great exchanges?

Matchbook has a better line at least 99% all you have to do is compare the other sportsbooks and you will see. You can't be that blind.

Betfair has such a lead, and such an enormous infrastructure, there is no chance of any other company catching them, or even making a serious dent on them.... UNLESS the US legalises online betting nationwide and a new firm is funded by Wall St with $100s of millions.

Other firms might be able to survive, even make a tiny little profit as they battle along, but the budget involved in getting to such a stage as Betfair is ridiculous - 2000 staff, a transactional database only matched by Amazon and eBay, more transactions per day than every stock exchange in Europe combined.

Competing exchanges can't work. Liquidity is everything and the biggest one will always win. There will be room for maybe another four to stay afloat, but if they compete against each other directly in the same markets, there will only be one winner.

As far as i know Betfair was made with 1mln pounds, not 100 mln, so that amount isnt that much. Beside that they made it to that in few years, so dont expect a new company to take 20 % of market in 1year.
And one more thing : I also think the more exchanges the better, but quantity doesnt mean quality - see Bestake.com!
