Bestake players report fraud
Bestake (unrated) players have reported fraud. Twenty five Bestake complaints were filed with SBR this morning. When players logged into their accounts a popup window appeared called "Express Withdrawal - Show me the money in 4 hours'. After clicking the option, players reported that their account balances changed to 0, and that exactly six unauthorized bets were recorded to their accounts zeroing their balances.
SBR is investigating the alleged fraud.

I have never heard about them either , maybe I'm wrong, is it an exchange site? I see there is nothing liquidity here, so why did people use this site (instead of Betfair example), why did they keep thousand EURs at this unlicensed banane company?

I'd never heard of them either. My guess, from looking at the site, was that people were attracted by the low commission offers and the prizes - like 1% commission for the world cup, and draws for a car if you bet through over 20,000 in a certain period.
From the complaints, it seems like it's basically (mainland) Europeans that were playing there. So I suppose it's possible there was some kind of advertising over there or that word spread via particular forums.

There was liquidity for the past few months, and I found it through odds sites such as oddschecker.com so assumed it was ok. Considering the amount of info in the "About us" pages.
It went bad yesterday!
Plus I wasn't aware of the SBR blacklist till after all this....

I knew them throught betonvalue.com, that, by the way, is still comparing their odds.
So sick.

I became aware of Bestake.com via the betbrain.com odds portal - a pretty reputable website. I joined up and essentially the liquidity was in soccer matches where it seems that they (I say they, because I reckon it has to be them - meaning Bestake.com ) whom were piling into shorties at the world cup. Often willing to take well unders. I, like no doubt many others, were happy to take them on.
A spate of rough results in the football world cup obviously hit them hard and well, it looks like they cannot pay.
Their 'express withdraw' thing is a disgrace, lulled heaps of us to click through to find out about it and bingo, it has allocated the persons balance across the same 6 bets and apparently all have to get up for the bet to win.
Any person willing to take this kind of bet is either stupid, or very, very stupid. However there is nothing Bestake.com clients could do.
It is a bad, bad fraud. I want to know why sites like betbrain, com and oddschecker.com were so happy to promote their prices?
Costa Rica. Seems to be the home of many sportsbook crooks.

Bestake fraud update
Update to 6/20 Bestake fraud report - SBR has received 30 complaints from Bestake players on the sportsbook's new "Show me the money" feature. Bestake placed a link for the promotion next to an inaccurate description: "New Feature: Express 4 hours withdraw. Start now.".
Players clicked on the link believing they were withdrawing money, and saw their entire account balance disappear. Players balances were divided up into 6 ''matched'' bets in equal; amounts on the following games:
Slovenia/England Draw at 4.50
Ghana (vs Germany) at 5.4
USA/Algeria Draw at 3.8
Japan (vs Denmark) at 3.55
Italy (vs Slovakia) at 1.7
Korea/Ivory Coast Draw at 5.4
SBR contacted Tom Walsh of Bestake, who stated the following:
Bestake management:
Quote:
I saw the claims at SBR, the rules was very clear and apparently the users that made those claims did not read our rules about that feature (New Feature - Show Me The Money).
When you are choosing this option the system will automatically choose 6 events to win, all your found in the account will be split between those events. you must win all the games ( all the games are considered as one event), if you lose one game your will lose the whole event. The winner will get a withdraw after 4 hours guaranteed of the last event + 15% bonus of the winning amount.
|
Bestakes promotion violates contract law and common sense. Players attempting to withdraw instead were given six World Cup bets they did not want. Additionally, the prices given on the matches were unreasonably low. For example, Slovenia was matched at a price of 4.5 (+350), while Pinnacle was offering Slovenia at 7.99 (+699). Finally, the rules for the promotion are unclear at best, and unconscionable at worst. One reading of the rules could treat the 6 wagers as a parlay paying very poor odds. Bestake was asked about this, but offered no clarification.
SBR has recommended that Bestake void all the wagers created from the misleading link, and pay the players their balances.

there was no liquidity at all at bestake apart from the owners making bets at ridiculous odds.
f.e., you could lay germany as well as argentina for about 1.30 in their first world cup game for about 20k in an otherwise empty market, while you could back both teams at 1.50 - 1.60 at betfair.
the whole site was a sucker-trap from the start; anyone that was willing to take them on at those odds and actually expected to be paid is way to naive to be doing any online gambling at all.

The odds for Slovenia-England game are correct. anyways, this is a PURE THEFT by Bestakes if all the bets have to be won, otherwise people could bet it at another place and scalp it out. You could do that at Betfair because you know that you would get paid. but, with these thieves they will probably split the win to another 6 bets until you finally lose. Complete odds are 3009 and the correct payout for all bets should be in millions for that kind of stake!!! THEFT!

bearhead, i understand your post, but somebody has got to state the obvious, so maybe someone will actually learn from this whole mess. I feel sorry for the ones that got scammed on an individual level, in a sense that losing those amounts of money is no fun.
yet, everybody that got scammed should realize there's only one person that can be blamed for this situation and that's you. the whole bestake-website was a complete joke from start to finish. the only reason for someone playing there with those odds was because greed took over and blocked out any common sense. people stuck in this book have got to learn from this whole experience (it's the only thing you'll get out of it anyway, those funds are gone), otherwise they'll be depositing in the next scam book offering odds which are way way off a few weeks from now.
it's amazing this year has only been going for six months and yet at least three books (shillbet, wbexonline and bestake) with the exact same retarded business model, specifically targetting european bettors who look at betbrain all day, make a relatively large amount of victims in a relatively very short period of time who apparently all piled in without any research. there's only one way to stop this kind of scam and that's stop depositing with these kind of books. so, sorry if this post comes across as annoying, but someone's got to say it.

You've got a point, noyb.
Most people -especially traders- check odds comparison sites on a daily basis.
If odds are way out of line (day after day) you don't have to be French to know the cheese's got a bad odeur.

Noyb what is it going to achieve coming on here giving people a kick when they are down? I can understand what you are trying to do but maybe you could go about it a bit better instead of coming on here going ' anyone that was willing to take them on at those odds and actually expected to be paid is way to naive to be doing any online gambling at all'. just makes you look like a fool. You are obviously someone who gets a kick out of someone elses misfortune.
If you want to preach about how to go about it, maybe start your own thread. Like I asked before, what do you say to the people who did dough with Sporting Options or weren't you around in those days?
You can have the best 'looking' and most reputable website and team going around, yet you can still get stumped.
Look up the Sporting Options history and learn.

i missed the Sporting Options crash by about a year, but I know what happened. Not sure what that has got to do with Bestake though as every single circumstance is different, except for the fact they were both gambling companies and they both failed. In the meantime hundreds of gaming sites have gone out of business, some of which resembled the Bestake-business model a hell of a lot more.
I agree though, online gambling is risky and anyone playing at a lot of books will get burnt eventually. Some busts are extremely difficult to predict, others not so much. Either way, regulation is poor in most civilized countries, let alone in the third world countries that usually license these books. Problem is though, Bestake definitely wasn't a good looking, reputable website. They've been around for an extremely short period of time, with absolutely no credentials, no regulation and operating from a country that's well known for hosting scam betting sites. Ffs, the adress they listed claims they were based "in front of Universal Library", they didn't even have an adress! Even the owner's name (Rohrmoser) sounds like it was made up at the spot. Yet, people somehow were keeping enormous balances there and some now seem genuinely clueless to the fact nobody, not even SBR, the FBI, Interpol or Barack Obama himself, will be able to help them. And as to kicking people when they're down -> some of us tried kicking them when Bestake was still alive but obviously it turned out they weren't exactly listening then, maybe they are now. Anyway, i've obv made my point by now. If you don't agree, that's fine.

Hi all. Here is the phone number of FBI 1-800-225-53-24 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-800-225-53-24 end_of_the_skype_highlighting
This is the phone number of the IC3 ( internet crime ) but a central call number.
We tried to call them but since the automatic operator required buttons to push but so it was impossible
on Skype phone, only by real phone.
So if there is anyone who can call them and ask for a contact for internet crime, please inform
us very urgently.
To new users here : please contact your local embassy of Costa Rica and report this scam !!!
If there is a victim from Hungary, you will not find any embassy, there is no. Only in Slovak Republic.
But I think within EU countries you can contact any Costa Rica embassy, but better to contact them
by phone.
Also it would be good to search for american victims of Bestake, they are much more closer to the fire.
They can push harder on american FBI and then to Costa Rica.

Hey. Maybe yesterday I was not so clear but here you can see the exact instructions to contact FBI.
I tell you exactly how to write to FBI. Go to link : http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx
Click on button I ACCEPT on the bottom of the page, then start to fill in the options and click Next until
you have got to the end and submit.

Jeez this makes the Sporting Option debacle look good At least punters (Including me) were bailed out by Betfair on that occasion.
Doubt if there will be any 'Saviours ' for the poor punters ripped off by this outfit
