Perhaps the story should have read:

Gary Kaplan, founder of the British online gambling company BetonSports Plc, driven into bankruptcy by illegal and corrupt acts on the part of the US Government, thereby costing innocent people millions of dollars in investment losses in this company and many others on the AIM Exchange and causing thousands of bets to now go unpaid, lost an appeals court bid for bail while he awaits trial on racketeering and conspiracy charges.

I dont like to see anyone denied bail...well almost anyone. OJ was given bail and so were those Enron guys. actually think they could give him some kind of deal to keep him out of jail until he is found gulity of something. Might not be a popular view but innocent until proven gulity is still a good thing even with deadbeat scammers.

SBRJohn,

I think your right about that, they have murderers that are getting out on bail but someone like this cannot get bail, that doesn't make much sense to me at all. He didn't kill anyone and those are the ones that we need to keep in jail.

Agreed. This is a guy that was found with multiple fake passports and had not been to the US in a few years.

He did offer to pay for confinement to a house and as many state police as the state would require to make sure he stayed there. But the fake passports were too much to overcome.
