Sportsbooks in the process of destroying parlay betting
Books are getting paranoid of accepting parlays of (over and fav) and (under and dog). These bets, especially over and fav are very popular with the public, and with the NFL it is a mistake not to allow them. The 10% vig on parlays will more than compensate for any correlation, and those few games where it will not, it is better to keep customers happy, anyhow.
Why get a customer upset who is betting these bets every week on the NFL, because 1 game out of 100 has a huge spread and is going to give the guy a small edge.
The same concept applies in blackjack. There are times especially in single deck games when even not so good players have an edge. Since these players are making so many bets when they do not have the edge, you don't want to get them angry and shuffle the deck, or even take away the entire game, or make bjs pay 6 to 5, but the casino has gone ahead and destroyed this game, by using sharp dealers to shuffle up, or changing the rules, and the sportsbooks seem to want to destory parlay betting as well.
There are recreational bettors out there, the Colts are their favorite team, they want to bet over and fav as usual, and this weekend they can not. They are able to bet it somewhere else, assume they can't bet it at betcris any more, so betcris loses their business. Not very smart of betcris, imo, and the poster is correct to complain. My guess is other A books are acting paranoid also, so I don't mean to only pick on CRIS.
