Default Is bookmaker a necessary out?

    Hello,

I am a straight bettor on football (pro/college), basketball (pro/college), hockey (pro) and baseball (pro). I already line shop on pinnacle, thegreek, betjamaica and 5Dimes. Is bookmaker a necessary out for me? If not, is there any other books you would recommend for my particular situation?

    No, they are not.

And I like the book a lot, one of my three favorites (along with Pinnacle and The Greek). I would get a more off the wall book that has a few opinionated lines. A "C" type book would be fine. Look at a few, see where you would get bets in (where they have a better number than your other books for the side you want to bet.

Your current portfolio of books is good enough. I'd only recommend you add Bookmaker if you're betting openers. Depending on your betting style, Matchbook might be a good book to add as well.

I've made a total of 1 bet there since the superbowl, kinda worthless if you don't bet openers...

When and how much are you betting?

Betting 200-500 the day of the game.. however, in the near future, i will be increasing my BR and betting 1-2k game... is bookmaker a necessary out for that bet size?

I find that for baseball matchbook is the essential out.

    Other sports, not so much.

As the other posters mentioned, Bookmaker is mostly good for early openers.

Have to agree with peep here, just search the forums to see if any of the lower books with opinionated lines have any complaints and go from there both SIA and Phoenix are good candidates

If you only bet the day of the game, I don't think you need Bookmaker. Bookmaker is best for people betting openers and/or those with large enough bankrolls that their high fees will represent a smaller percentage of your profit.

replace with match and bookmaker when you lose betjamaica and 5dimes as outs.

if you haven't been limited there yet, then adv of bookmaker and match would not all that relelvant to you currently anways.

bookmaker is pretty decent i have to say. customer service is ok, lines are pretty good and payouts are fast from what i've experienced.

If you are moving to 2K a game for NHL, then only the following books rated B or higher for USA customers have those limits. Of course, you obviously are not a US customer, so I am sure there are other books out there. Not exactly sure about 5Dimes, as I have not had to hit their limits yet to see what they do and Bet Phoenix's limits are rolling, meaning the closer you get to game time the higher it gets, eventually getting it to $2K.

List of Books rated B or higher that accept US Customers with at least 2K limits in NHL:

    5Dimes
    Bet Online
    Bet Phoenix
    BookMaker
    Caribsports
    First Fidelity You Wager
    IslandCasino
    Jazzsports
    The Greek
    WorldWideWagering

Something else to consider here, not mentioned above. If you are not a recreational gambler (meaning you win more than you lose) Bookmaker will not place obscene bet limits on your account like several of the other books mentioned will.

MATCHBOOK is an obvious choice over Bookmaker

However, the last couple months, my opinion of Bookmaker has risen ever so slightly with the reason being I've been finding some weak numbers there.

You are scalping 20 cent lines?

I think their racebook is very good. They take bets up to post, grade them accurately & very quick,& offer a solid rebate for wagers. This is pretty much the only thing I use them for this time of year.

BookMaker is useless for bases - 20 cent lines...just laughably absurd. However, it is a definite out for US players during football season as it's one of the first to put out a number.

I would recommend Bodog if you like betting dogs. You just have to know and accept the pitfalls of betting there.
