Default MANSION.com closes exchange betting and re-opens Sportsbook

Got this email today from Mansion:

Due to popular demand, MANSION.com introduced a new and greatly improved Sportsbook at 13:30 GMT on Monday 22 October 2007.

Our rejuvenated Sportsbook offers our Members high quality sports betting options that are equally convenient, entertaining, regulated and secure.

Simultaneously, in a further effort to streamline operations, MANSION.com Exchange has now ceased taking bets.

All outstanding Exchange bets will be honoured and settled upon completion of the market and Exchange Members will be able to view those bets in the My Account section.

Ready with better odds and bigger volumes than before, MANSION.com’s Sportsbook now features easier navigation and a greater variety of markets.

From the mainstream international events of Soccer, Tennis and F1 Grand Prix, to the popular U.S. sports of NFL, Baseball and Basketball, and a wider range of niche markets, the choice at MANSION.com’s Sportsbook reflects 24/7 sporting action across the globe.

More sports bettors worldwide will now switch on to the all-new MANSION.com Sportsbook to discover more diverse betting types than ever before, including Accumulators, Over/Under, Match Betting, multiple Points Spreads and Totals, Double Results, and many other related bets.

    Enjoy your new Sportsbook!

And I was just recently saying that Mansion.com betting exchange had much less volume as compared to Betdaq.com.

They are backed by Mansion, but this book was basically made mainly for Chinese players.

I liked Mansion very much, but I guess betfair was too big for them. Today I was some 800.000 US$ was traded for one Swedish soccer game at betfair while the same game had few thousands traded at parbet (most of it mine). I cannot understand why people did not use Mansion more...

There are a few reasons. Betfair are very high on the trustworthiness factor, they had first mover advantage in the market all those years ago and also they are so big that it's pretty hard to get a critical mass of clients into another rival exchange (kind of like the ebay effect). But still, I never understood why people did not use Mansion more.

Mansion offers the same events as Mansion88 now, apart from the fact that Mansion88 has slightly better odds.

I hate to see Mansion not succeed as well as previously hoped. They were really booming in the US, and had far exceeded Matchbook, Tradesports, etc., prior to the US legislation. Mansion's owned by an extremely prominent man who has always paid promptly, and I hope one day their exchange model thrives again.

Whatever event I choose the limit on everything is only $500. Is it the same for everybody?

I loved the exchange. In its day it was much better than Matchbook.

    A) Their website was the most user unfriendly that I have ever seen.
    B) They had little live betting.
    C) They could have pulled a stunt offering English horse racing.

I couldn't agree more with you on that point. Mansion was a cash cow for most people when they first opened up.

It's Friday, and they still don't have any NFL games up, not even the one that's going to be played in London.

I totally disagree that they have good odds. I always go to odds-comparison sites like:

    www.tip-ex.com
    www.oddschecker.com
    www.oddsexplorer.com

And always see that both Mansion and Mansion88 have one of the lowest odds available.

Nothing can really compare to the odds available at:
    www.betdaq.com
    www.betfair.com
    www.matchbook.com
    www.redbet.com (less volume though)
