I placed a Super Bowl bet early last week, Colts -4.5. I was very excited that I got such a good line, I believe the Colts may win by almost a touchdown.

Then, last night it just disappeared from my Bet Phoenix account.

Poof.

The wager amount ($100) was back in my account, but there is no history of there ever being a bet placed or of the refund I received. The bet just vanished. It is as if I never placed it.

The account rep is asking me for more information, but of course my statement shows I never made the bet.

I don't know. I am sort of stunned right now. I want to see what others think of this. Have you had the same sort of experience?

BetPhoenix is becoming quite the questionable organization. This guy has 500 + post so I find it hard to question him on this one. BP should be used with caution

One should not have to do this, and I only would if I thought the bet was iffy ( like a bad line), to begin with.

I'm not trying to cast aspersions at Bet Phoenix -- if they want $100 they can just wait for me to lose at least that much every day.

if it is was a bad line -- wouldn't they tell me that and refund the $100?

It happens sometimes, dmtrader.

Consider a screenshot the same as a receipt when you buy something. Most of the time you won't need it, but you won't be able to return something without it.

What does that have to do with my post? I'm simply stating that they should be used with caution if they void peoples bets without notice or reason. Doesn't matter if the line stayed the same throughout.

OK, I guess I don't know how to post links. I started a thread entitled "Has anyone had a placed wager disappear at BetPhoenix?" which details my experience. I posted it on 1/15/2010.

This is pretty crazy over $100.

-4.5 and -5.5 is almost the same line in NFL, 5 hits maybe 1-2% of the time, if that, real garbage number.

It's hard to see BP voiding this for any reason, and esp. for a $100 bet.

Poster does seem fairly credible, though !

My experience here is very similar to yours. The bet just disappeared. I do mark off all my graded bets each night, but this bet was placed almost 2 full weeks before the Super Bowl, so I was accustomed to seeing $100 bet in my "pending plays" at the top of the screen.

Not much I can do about it -- I have no proof. I just took my first screenshot today. I'll be doing that every day from now on.

My read would be that this is not "skulduggery" but a genuine error on the part of BP. Such errors, or similar ones appear to be becoming quite common there.

The "skulduggery" comment was just so I didn't come across as blaming Bet Phoenix for everything including global warming and the earthquake in Haiti!

I agree, this seems more like a software problem than anything else. I lose more than $100 there on an average week. Although I was up over $300 there last week!

I'm just trying to be realistic. These are offshore books we are betting at. Nothing is regulated.DH is right, I should take some steps to protect myself from computer error, "skulduggery," or otherwise.

I understand that DH but coming from my perspective (I like to middle college football games) I have no time to take screen shots of EVERY BET on both sides... How long do I save them for..? I don't have enough time to fit that into my schedule at the moment and if I saw one side disappear like that I would be PISSED!!! The line opened at -4 and he said the bet was almost two weeks before the SB which tells me he probably got the legit line... It opened at -4 and went to -5.5 the following day...

Second guess you took their outrageous rollover bonus,you are losing and cannot pack your bags and leave.

I believe either way you will agree with guess one.

If you do not agree with guess number two, why are you placing bets there still?

I don't think taking screen shots means you are experienced or not. It is simply your preference. If I need to take a screenshot I would not be playing there as another respected poster has stated. BetPhoenix has had almost every type of complaint that there is come up for everyone to view, so there is no need to bash, the info is here in abundance, use with caution.

I took the reduced juice in lieu of the bonus, which they have recently taken away from college hoops which did not make me happy.

I may not play there anymore. The Colts play disappeared just this morning, and I am considering my options. In the meantime I am working wiht the account rep to try and get my $ and Super Bowl play back.

Except the fact that even if you do take a screenshot, they might tell you you photoshopped it because its not "their error".

this book that most people think is great - has more types of problems than any other book. has more types of problems than any 5 books. i don't understand what makes it so good. they pay. great. what GOOD book doesn't pay. anything else. seems like it's always something- every week something different. dozens of trerads in a few months. some cheering, most complaining. starting to printout daily treads. makes good bathroom reading material. better than a sunday paper. plus its daily.
