Yes it would be nice to know the reason why...A- to B isn't just a token downgrade.

I third this and question the wisdom in posting such an upgrade w/o an explanation. I'm sure one is coming though...

Nothing in the reviews except the downgrade. I think SBR needs to explain the downgrade. It can't simply be because they can take 8 hours to grade a wager.

Just chiming in to also request some sort of explanation from SBR as to the downgrade. I was considering making a large deposit in a couple weeks, what's going on?

Probably an accumulation of things that suggest MB has lost its edge, and needs to get back to work to regain it. You can only let things slide for so long. They're not on top of things as they once were. Their attitude is not one of a book in the A range.
They better shape up fast, because Betphoenix has an exchange in the making and could blow them out of the water.

Why would they blow them out of the water? How will there be so much more liquidity than MB. I expect many of the BP users already have accounts at MB also, and the liquidity still is low in certain areas.

Speculation on my part, but i would imagine a different approach to the commission structure, better customer service, AND Asian markets.

Probably to do with the site's instability. Been a problem for a while now. Even today I can't get past "loading resources"

I said that they could. Not that they would. If MB was a stock I would have shorted them quite some time ago. Not because of what they have right now, but because of their leadership which doesn't show much vision at all.
Suggest an improvement to MB, and they will almost certainly ignore it. Suggest it to BetPhoenix and they often implement it. With that underlying attitude I would expect BP to create a much more user-friendly exchange. It's the same in any business. If you don't listen to your customers, you alienate them.
I'm happy with MB right now, but if something better pops up it would take me about two seconds to switch.

I agree (really!). Betfair would clean up in the US market but what is the chance of that happening?

One can assume Matchbook is not going to be a SBR forum sponsor in the very near future. Thats probably the reason for the drop in rating. MB continues to pay lightning fast, in-game betting and game day liquidity has improved from last year even though I have read complaints for lack of.
Lets remember SBR is a for profit business. Ratings are bought. As long as the sportsbook is somewhat respectable, their rating will only go up, if SBR gets greased.
Look at Heritage's rating of "B". They should be an A+. But they don't pay so they are stuck at a B rating.

I've seen this accusation now several times and no denial from SBR management so what is one left with?
Is there any truly independent sportsbook rating agency?

Dropping them one notch is one thing, but all the way to B with no explanation is another. Obviously liquidity sucks at MB, but what else is going on? SBR is usually more open with its rating changes.

i dunno, is there?
if a sportsbook ratings website has adverts then it's not going to be impartial.
either you (the customer) will have to pay for sbr directly like a subscription, or pay indirectly through ads.
take consumer reports magazine. it does not print outside advertising, accept free product samples, or permit the commercial use of its reviews for selling products. it can claim it's reviews are independent and impartial.

SBR ratings can be based on information which would be irresponsible of them to report.

Perhaps SBR should come up with a solid explanation about this downgrade.
many players are sitting with lots of money there and would like to understand the risk.

Yes, this is very unprofessional.
Anyway, in my view the A's and B's have all sort of merged into one pool of reliable books. The SBR ratings don't mean the same they used to.

As long as Matchbook transfers 5 figures to thegreek or 5dimes in less than 15 minutes, they are an A in my book.

I can think of 4 of 5 reasons to downgrade them in my own mind (website instability, slow grading etc) , but would also appreciate some sort of explanation from SBR.
I donīt have a huge balance there, but would be upset if there any questions over financial security.

SBR ratings are bought. nuff said. Lets see, Matchbook pays lightning fast. I received a withdraw fron them last week within 3 days.
Bookmaker is rated A+. I read posts of players complaining of slow pays, bounced checks, bonus points being stolen back because the player is winning. SBR keeps Bookmaker at a solid A+.
I would be more interested in what posters say about MB than SBR.
