Default If Matchbook had player to player transfers...

I've been trying to talk Matchbook into allowing player to player transfers, and they seem to at least be listening to me. The idea I suggested to them is they allow it a limited number of times for well established players.

I think it would help my argument if there were several others that like the idea. They haven't really given me the reasons why they are opposed to it, but I imagine limiting the # of people who qualify and the # times they can do it would eliminate alot of the problems.

So how many of you guys would be interested in this?

Other comments and suggestions are welcome.

I would enjoy having that option available.

This is probably more useful for US players so they don't have to jump through hoops to move money in or out. Not sure what % of the people on this board are from the US.

I guess this thought ran through my head, but it is obviously against the rules and would be fairly easily to catch (though they probably aren't looking for it).

Betfair most certainly do look out for this sort of thing. There have been cases of money laundering discovered using exactly this method.

I have suggested it to them several times and brought it up before on this forum. Its a moneymaker for them in a whole lot of ways.

Give the transfer a 1 or 2x roll and everybody is happy. No sweat to them at all and they make money.

Keep at it--its how things get done.

Why do they care what people do with their money. This whole money laundering BS is overblown by a paranoid government looking to control everyone.

The real criminals steal trillions and we have to look over our shoulder at the ** counter.

Used to be (couple years ago) several books offered it. Then I suppose security issues gradually shut down this practice. I recently tried to encourage Matchbook to look into allowing this.

As long as the book has verified both parties and confirmed the transfer--then put a suitable rollover on the exchange 1 or 2x--I don't see the negative for the book. In fact, I think it would bring in quite a few poker player/sports bettor types.

Guaranteed new business for any book that offered it.

Any book reps on here want to comment on why its such a negative to offer it?
Katstale,

Found this post in a previous thread. There are definitely a ton of poker player types that would love this. I'm sure Matchbook has security concerns, but I think this would please many current clients and bring them new ones.

What have you said to matchbook and who have you spoken to in the past?

They did do one for me a few months back, for $500, but I got the idea it was more of a "courtesy" thing than a business plan. They told the player that I transferred the money if for it was only because I was "known" to them lol.

Agree it would be a good business move for them though. I didn't get the feeling they wanted to get into it, I am not sure why they wouldn't.

No one in particular. Just sent them emails. Never got a response back.

I suggested it before as well. But I like that they only do it for known players. Otherwise too much of a security risk.

What are the security risks? I can't really think of anything major.

They have measures in place to catch this sort of thing and doing it is a sure fire way to get both accounts locked out.

Matchbook as well as all other exchanges are extremely concerned about market manipulation.

On an exception basis, they will do person to person transfers if asked though its definitely not their policy to do so.

TradeSports had player to player transfers and it was a great service extended to their customers.

Bleedblue, by all means continue to try and convince MB to allow P2P transfers and we all hope for your success.

I have asked them the same thing.

It would bring in more customers. I was going to get them a new customer (a poker player) who would transfer me money on a poker site, and I would transfer to him on Matchbook.

They said no.

Edit to add: I was planning on getting them several new customers, and none of the transfers would have been for less than $5K. Basically, they are either scared (of US Gov?) or stupid.

It would be a nice option, but I can certainly understand their concerns. Sounds like they handle it about right, allowing it for loyal customers but not as a general policy.
