After being contacted about the case by the Herald Sun the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation said it had nothing to do with them.

Any outspoken opposition MPs in England that would like to have a crack at the government and the uselessness of the UK gaming commission? Maybe another angle to bombard.

Thanks again SHARI for this excellent work. We all need to jump on this straight away and take action, no excuses. Something very bad has happened here and the people responsible will not just be walking away.

uselessness is euphemistic... unfortunately the GC harmed players they were supposed to protect, giving them assurances that Canbet has the money and are working "diligently" bla bla... so encouraging them to wait passively (if not put more money into the ponzi scheme)

@ the unheardof: I am not from the UK so haven't paid indirectly some civil servants to scam me, but feel the same frustration against the GC and consider them as guilty as lord&white, because UK was always in my mind the ideal type of democracy, capitalism and civilization... GC is a big dissapointment and a shame for England

    IBAS response re: Canbet

Latest response from IBAS following enquiries by TheGamblingTimes.com

Hoping to get an interview with the head of the IBAS (working on it at the moment), and the Gambling Commission........but they seem to not want to talk to us as the moment, can't think why.

    Hi David

We have received a large number of complaints from customers of Canbet
    regarding non-payment.

However, I have to advise you that we cannot become involved in any
complaint until such time that complainant(s) are advised by the company
that they are not being paid for whatever specific reason. Up until now
we were expecting most customers to be paid. We have no statutory
powers and only offer a independent, third party opinion in the
settlement and pricing of betting transactions.

IBAS does not have the powers or resources to conduct investigations
into the financial viability of those bookmakers that register with us.
Ultimately, this Service relies upon the cooperation of the bookmaker
with ourselves in order to enable us to complete a satisfactory
adjudication on any dispute. Visit our website IBAS Home for more
    information regarding IBAS.

I appreciate that this does not provide you with the information about
Canbet that you were most likely seeking but where any bookmaker is
apparently repeatedly failing to honour customer payments this is bound
to be squarely a regulatory issue and I know the UK Gambling Commission
have been in touch with Canbet regarding the issue. They may have more
information regarding the situation and I also believe there is also a
report on their website regarding the matter.

However I can advise that a piece did go in the Australian newspaper
Herald Sun a day or so ago and I have attached the above article.

I will forward your request regarding an interview onto our Managing
Director, Richard Hayler, to respond to.

    Regards
    Danny Cracknell
    Adjudication Manager

Although I am not good with English I will sent mail, maybe that help on some way. I suggest newcomers to thread and all others (with native English) to contact Alex, instead just adding their names and amounts on Shari's list. Don't expect your money, but only register on forum, reporting money owed and do nothing more. Give some contribution, don't be lazy, and expect from Shari to do all. He already did much more then anyone of us, although he don't have any money owed here.
Also this is valid for English newspapers too, send your story to those from above list, I just prepare text now
    .

You might have already done this, but as well as going through the 'Executive' part of the GC, there are all the members of the Board of Commissioners to get in touch with. This is largely a collection of the great and the good that are supposed to oversee the governance of the GC at the top level. These may not have considered the possibility of personal reputation risk of being associated with the GC in the case of a massive failure of a remote licencee. They don't publish contact details, but since most (all?) of these have other listed interests these wouldn't be too hard to find.

Danny Cracknell of IBAS is absolutely useless. He really is a borderline idiot. Don't waste your time with him. I had a dispute with a bookmaker which was clear cut yet he ruled with the bookmaker. I had to pursue them via the courts after which I won and was paid.
IBAS/GC have no interest in players and are far from impartial. I hope the GC pay for this. They have really screwed players over.

Unfortunately I had message: You must be a British citizen or normally live in the UK to create or sign e-petitions. I am not British. Can we collect at least 500 signs? We must contact English newspapers for sure , hopefully most of owed British will do that asap, I already start that.

    Hi!

I'm from Finland and would like to thank you all for the nice work so far, especially shari91. I've lost hope to get the money a while ago, but these new info you've gathered have gave a little more hope. I have made complaints to SBR, GC and IBAS and gotten pretty much the same answers as the others. I made my first withdraw request on mid October and the second one on the last days of November. First was 3500€ and second 2000€, which left another 972,18€ to my Canbet account.

    So I'm owed total 6472,18€.

Please add me to the list. I am a UK resident owed £2185. I made my first withdrawal request for £1905 on 28 November 2013 and my second for £280 on 4 December 2013.

I also reported the matter to GC and IBAS (next to useless) and have a summary court judgment for the sum plus £80 plus interest at 8%. I have served a statutory demand on Canbet and can petition for their insolvency without notice if necessary. I doubt that this would serve any immediate purpose at the moment.

Happy to provide any more information to the general effort here if needed.
