i think i pay for internet at this hotel (a casino im going to for the weekend). would books care if i use that internet connection? there could be multiple people logged in at the hotel considering it is a casino. looking to be preemptive and stay out of trouble. would every hotel room in the casino have the same IP? i want to win both at poker and still be able to bet my sports this weekend!

It depends a lot upon the book, of course. For example, in my experience books like Pinnacle, Greek and BetCris either didn't know or didn't care that my IP was different from my regular one and/or one of many. On the other hand, ABCIslands basically lost their minds and set the wolves on me, locking my account, refusing to release my funds and more or less showing me the door.

the problem is not using different ips but rather using an ip that someone else there plays from best bet is to call in plays

What about the security aspect of it? Is your book a SSL secured site using https instead of http? Free internet places can be potential targets of hackers and they can obtain all your login information without you knowing it.

I would not see a problem unless you're in a country where gambling is illegal. To cover yourself, you can always email the book and state that you are going to login to your account from your hotel etc etc.

Yeah email them or better still ring them telling them thats what your going to do and get the persons name and the time and date you rung them to confirm this just incase they do block your account.

But if i was you id avoid logging in to your account altogether from the hotel.

Why? I use internet cafes to login to my accounts all the time. They may be located in the same country but I don't see a huge issue (again, unless the location has banned gambling completely)

Never had a problem getting into a book from a hotel

Carib has given problems over this before. Most don't understand that a giant block of IPs is connected to a hotel or whatever and that people who gamble online will go to LV/AC and log into their accounts. Some have verbiage that tells people not to do this, but its stupid. Its just a way for them to apply rules differently to winners and losers.

I've used several computers (home, work, travel) at Bookmaker, Betphoenix, BetJamaica, and Bodog without ever having any problems.

There are other options though too. For example, use a program like gotomypc.com where you actually log into your home or office computer from where ever you are. It takes you to your actual computer screen and is essentially no different than sitting in front of your own computer.

Or, look into mobile betting applications for your phone. I know Bookmaker and DSI have them.

Or, newer phones like the Palm Pre, or iphone have web browsers on them that are good enough for logging into most sportsbooks.

Ultimately, though, I really don't think most major books would care much if you occasionally log in from different IP address. I wouldn't recommend creating a new account at a hotel, but logging into your established account seems okay.

I play mostly from an IP in a different country than where I register my account from. The A+ books have never said a word. I try and ask most places up front if that will be an issue and explain and document it for them. Shit books sometimes have a problem (only when I've taken too much of their money)

If you log in to Neteller from an IP in a different country (or use an overseas proxy), they lock your account.
