Default Costa Rica Governing body for books.

Since BOOKTHEBET wont pay me I guess I need to contact this authority. This is from there site which says they are governed by the Costa Rican Govt. How do I contact them

    Is Bookthebet licensed?
    A. Yes. Bookthebet is a fully licensed Sportbook & On-line Casino operating in Costa Rica. As such, Bookthebet abides by the laws and regulations of the Costa Rican jurisdiction. These regulations require that Bookthebet operates under the authority and within the extent of its gaming license. Thus, to ensure customer confidence in the soundness of the gaming system, Bookthebet voluntarily agrees to make their systems, algorithms and practices available for inspection and review by any legitimate gaming commission or governmental authority.

AFAIK, there's no such thing as a "gaming license" in Costa Rica, hence no official regulatory body. The most up-to-date source of support for this that I could find is here: http://news.offshoreinn.com/offshore...ssing-license/

That's why SBR is your best source of assistance with a Costa Rican bookie.

The Costa Rican government has talked about taxing gaming companies for years, as well as introducing a regulatory body. But, to my knowledge, neither have been done yet. This has been in the news again in the past couple of months (http://insidecostarica.com/dailynews...ly/22/cr02.htm and http://www.onlinecasinoreports.com/n...e-gambling.php).

If the Finance Ministry is about to take a much more active interest in online gambling, they may be more receptive to a complaint, who knows. But I haven't read on SBR of anyone who's succeeded in getting assistance that way (looking at BetCascade suggests the government's unwillingness/impotence to intervene). Others more experienced than me probably have much more well-informed views on this. Anyway, here's what I could find for contacting the Finance Ministry: https://www.hacienda.go.cr/Msib21/Es...ontactenos.htm

As I said in your other thread, you will get no where.

There are people in Costa RIca that start one new scam book after another. Nothing like Cascade which was a one time good book that failed, rather books that have no intention of ever paying out. Look at all the F books in the rating list. THere are a bunch of scammers that start website after website for the only purpose of getting a few deposits and stealing them.

I'd think a place like Costa Rica would be able to regulate this better, it is a fairly modern country, but that's just how it is in latin america. I drove past a police car on the highway today going well over the speed limit, and started to brake for a second on habit before remembering that they could care less. They have bigger issues to deal with.

I saw that the Govt in CR is in talks among themselves to start taxing the industry. If this happens and it should, then maybe you will see some Govt help in issues. If nothing else it may stop some of the scam only books.
