surely that depends on which .25 pt you are trying to buy, no?

meaning buying .25 pt off of 3.25 is different than buying .25 pt off of 3.75

You are simply taking two plays split across that quarter. On a 100 3.25 play you would have two $50 plays as follows:

1) -3 -105
2) -3.5 -105
