    Default 188bet cancelled Wimbledon bet

    Hi

Long time reader.... I got a problem i wanted to air to see if there was any ideas/advice out there. I placed a bet on Federer to win wimbledon at 188bet just after the french open. Odds were 2.3 (i took approx 900 gbp). Another couple of UK books were higher at 2.38 at the time. I dont use 188bet much so havent logged in often since that bet on 7th June. Anyway to my amazement i logged in last night to find the wager cancelled. Not sure when this was done, but my guess is that once nadal was out they didnt like the price i got.

I have emailed them and they are citing an INCORRECT LEAGUE problem. Apparently it was down as wimbledon 2008 (not 2009). Anything i can do?

    Cheers

If the wager was truly listed as Wimbledon 2008, the book would have to cancel all wagers on it. And they would have to feel stupid. This happens once in awhile, but they should at least send emails out as soon as it happens.

Well this is what they said:

We acknowledge receipt of your email with regard to your bet with reference number xxxxxxxxxx.Upon checking with the proper department, ATP Wimbledon Open 2008 Winner(MEN) Early Market, “all bets placed will be considered VOID due to Incorrect League Name. Correct league name should be (ATP-Wimbledon Men Winner)”. We regret to inform you that cancelled bets are being informed through our Announcement Page.
You may also refer to this information in our Announcement page. Simply login to your account, click on My Account and then choose Announcement.

Basically i assume they're saying the onus was on me to check the wager periodically to see if it was still valid - which i obviously didnt do

There's also no indication of when it was actually cancelled as far as i can tell in my history. I wonder how many bets on nadal they have CANCELLED? My guess i none.

    this is BAD
even if it says 2008 they should still let ppl keep the bets just to make ppl happy...........

    That is too bad bro,
I think most bookies would cancel a certain bets if there really was something wrong with the odds or a certain league..
well that happens from time to time bro..
but I think this should be a lesson for them to make sure that the odds they are giving is correct and accurate..
trust is really important in this kind of business..
