Why would customs have to open this? It is a letter envelop. Having them open these are ridiculous. Its not like a box or something. Absolutely crazy...

this has always happened all the time. some things get caught in customs. it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a sportsbook check, it will come soon enough.

try getting something caught in colombian customs they've had some books of mine for about a year

I wouldn't worry got mine from them within a week because the name and memo on the check are totally non-betting related.

Interested to here different ending though.

durito this is the first I have heard of a check in a flat envolope getting stuck in customs. Its pretty silly if you ask me. But who knows maybe there is new technology they are looking out for that is flatter than a pancake. Maybe some kind of completely flat frisbee that can cut through federal buildings?

lol hope you get your books soon though man.

You guys got off pretty easy with getting your check so promptly after it being stuck in customs.

When it happened to me, I got a call from FedEx saying they needed a complete history of the check, a receipt for the check, my banks information (including a slew of information from my bank that you would be thought of downright suspicious of obtaining, ect.)

Thankfully, my book took care of the entire ordeal once I notified of the situation. Just a heads up, if it gets stuck in customs, it could be a pain in the ass.

I mailed a bank check from the USA to a friend in Canada.
I called FedEx to check on it, and was told that it had made it only to Canadian Customs.

No one ever contacted me. When I eventually learned I would need the check back to get a refund from my bank, I finally called Canadian Customs (a few weeks later).
Canadian Customs told me that I had to call the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - Financial Crimes Division.

Didn't sound good.

When I called, I got a very cheerful and friendly RCMP female agent with a French Canadian accent.

I was surprised to find that she wasn't investigating me, she was trying to protect me.

She told me that many financial scams are based in Canada, and wanted to make sure that I know the person I am sending the check to - essentially wanted to make sure I wasn't sending the check to Olakambo Monogooloah, the ex-Prime Minister of Nigeria who has a million dollars he needs to get out of the country etc. or other type of financial scam.

I told her I'd like the check returned to me, and it was taken care of.
