Default Matchbook being ridiculous

To put everything as briefly as possible, I had $514 in my The Greek account. I wanted to transfer the money to 5dimes but they said transfers to 5dimes were on hold until further notice but they let me transfer to Matchbook so I did. Matchbook's rules say they have a $100 minimum to transfer and 5dimes is on the list. Anyways I decided to try my luck at Matchbook and it just didn't work out. So I'm down to $107.18. (I know it's not a lot but I usually just start with $50 or so and have built to 5k plus a few times) So I want to transfer this to 5dimes and they won't let me. I get an email saying since this is my first withdrawal at Matchbook I have to send a copy of the front and back of my credit card and driver's license. I didn't deposit with a credit card and when I tried to send my license it got sent back because the file was too big for their mailbox, 8.12 MB. So here's what I get from their live chat ...

Below is the complete transcript of your chat session:
===
Company: MatchBook
Department: Accounting
Name: Trinity
Email: accounts@matchbook.com
Day: Sun 05/10/09 00:05

---------------------------------------------

me : can I do a sportsbook transfer with 5dimes?

---------------------------------------------

** You are now speaking with Trinity, Accounting. **

Trinity : Hello. Thank you for contacting us at Matchbook.

Trinity : How may I help you?

me : I want to do a sportsbook transfer but you guys sent me
an email saying I needed to send a copy of a credit card

me : I didn't deposit with a credit card though. I did a
transfer from my Olympic account to you guys

me : and your email said you want a drivers license. I tried
to attach it but it gets sent back. the error says it's too big

me : so what do I do?

Trinity : i am seeing that in 2007 your inital deposit was made by a
credit card ending 0404

me : yeah I already lost that money a long time ago. I dont
even have a credit card now

me : olympic just transferred $ 514 to you guys like 2 days
ago

Trinity : because your intial deposit was made by a credit card when
you opened your account you will need to send us the requested
information to have your account verified

me : are you guys kidding me? unreal man. I would have never
used matchbook again if it was such a hassle. I'll be sure to post
this feedback at SBR. I'll never use your book again.

me : i cant believe you want something from 2007 that I dont
have anymore

me : I mean what does that even matter

me : I just sent $ 514 to matchbook a few days ago

me : the money in my account now isn't from 2007. this is
ridiculous

Trinity : you can send a copy of the front and back of your credit
card that you currently have

Trinity : as well as a form of id

Trinity : lol

Trinity : sorry about that

me : the problem is I don't have a credit card now

me : you cant deposit anywhere with credit cards. it's always
declined

me : so I had to do western union

me : I can send my drivers license

Trinity : that will work fine

Trinity : you will also have to request a bank check for your first
withdrawal

me : so I cant just transfer to 5dimes? come on dont you guys
help the customer? I'm just a small guy. I only have 107 bucks. give
me a break

Trinity : it is standard procedure that you verify your information

Trinity : before making a withdrawal

me : yeah I get that but then I have to take a check? you'll
charge me to send a check to me

me : your rules say $ 100 minimum and you transfer to the
books listed

Trinity : yes we do transfers to betcris, 5dimes, betjamacia,
pinnacle, olympic, and Bet Phenoix

Trinity : providing you have met the requirements to do so

me : ok I give up. thanks. I'll never use your book again

yeah, I transfer money to them from my Olympic account and they insist on a credit card from 2007? yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Matchbook is only for rich guys. I want to do MLB team totals and crap and nothing can get matched. Worthless for me. Good for you guys betting 1k a game. 5dimes is by far the best.

The best time to get matched is in the 10 minutes before the game. In the last 30 minutes even, there is a ton of liquidity.

Save your drivers license as a .JPEG image file and it will not be 8MB's.

Other than that, I would have to agree that Matchbook has acted in line with their policies and industry standard here.

He is.

But let's phrase it this way then.

"STANDARD PRACTICE SUCKS".

WTF? They think the dude is going to CHARGEBACK a 2007 deposit in 2009?

More people create offers right before the game than other times.

Absolutely correct. The only reason for them to require a scan of the credit card and any type of authorization form, if they ask for one, is to protect themselves against chargebacks. They should make an exception in this case. Even sportsbetting.com (SBR C-) only requires a credit card scan and authorization form for credit cards used to deposit in the last 6 months prior to withdrawal. It's now 2009. There's no way any credit card issuer is going to entertain a chargeback claim for a transaction in 2007. I don't even think Amex would do it for a Amex-black cardholder.

As for MB only being for "the rich guys," I have about $1000 total in my account right now and I typically risk $5 per bet, usually placing 2-3 bets per day. I don't have any trouble getting matched, ever. MB is the only book where I have any money on deposit right now, although I have accounts at and have used several others over the past couple months.

I am realizing more and more the benefits of having a Matchbook account in terms of value. The other night I got the Hawks at +8.5 +195 in the 1st quarter and then grabbed the Lakers -8.5 +185 late in the 2nd quarter. If I dropped 1k on each, I could pocket an automatic 850 or 950 regardless of what happened in the 2nd half. I realize you normally don't get this much value on a daily basis, but even if you get something like +120 on both sides, you could still pocket 200. The lines move constantly and I can't believe how much they bump up the + so early in games, I think the Hawks were down like 14 in the 1st quarter when I grabbed it at that price. I have nothing but good things to say about Matchbook, been with them for about 6 months now.

The first thing the OP did wrong was to have a money discussion in live chat.....

It's amazing how many use live chat to discuss money...
Pick up the damn phone.......

Books have deep pockets of risk, so they can price up everything at the same time, and only pay after the result.

Individual customers only have limited pockets, thus they tend to focus on the next race, next game etc. So rather than risking $200 on each of five games 24hrs in advance, there might be other opportunities between then and the game, so it's only in the lead-up to the game, last hour or so, that people concentrate on one game... hence the liquidity goes right up. It's also when you are more likely to know about team changes, weather etc... plus your average square sees something on TV and then gets excited...

If you live in pakistan you need to call matchbook and ask them questions about things like whether you can bet there and whether they can pay you or not since you live in Pakistan. Matchbook customers are mostly USA and Canadian.

You need to ask matchbook these questions. Call them, dont go to live chat. Ask to speak to a supervisor or manager.
