    Default BetFair Question

    OK, now I'm confused

I placed a small bet with betfair during a soccer match, it was only for a $5.40 profit.
    Here's the screenshot:

Yet I dont understand what 'unmatched' or 'partially unmatched' means.
Does that mean the bet wasnt accepted by Betfair???

I'll give examples using your game. If you tried to back $90 @ 1.06 and the odds moved so that only 1.05 was available to back as looks the case on your screenshot, then your bet would be unmatched and go into a queue at 1.06 waiting for someone to lay your bet.

If you placed a bet of $180 @ 1.06 and $90 was matched but there wasn't enough lay money at 1.06 to match all $180, then you have a partially matched bet. Again, the other $90 which hasn't yet been matched goes into a queue at 1.06 waiting for someone to lay.

I have a better idea : turn off the back&lay switcher, and you will see only odds which are available

Esco, do you know that betfair is a betting exchange where every betfair users is betting against other users and not again the bookie (betfair) like in all the other bookies?

This way, you can see in every market not only the odds available to back or lay but also the amounts of money available at those odds.

In your example, since you have that screenshot with those options you only could see the odds available and not the amount of money available at those odds.

Put a tick on the option "back and lay", and another on "market depth", switch off the sports zone, and you could get a more clean betfair view.

In your example, as mentioned you tried to back herta at 1,06 with 90$.
Probably, because the match was in-running and towards the end, when the submission of your bet hit the market, that back odd wasn't available anymore and so, your bet became unmatched.

If you don't cancel the unmatched bets, the bet stays in the market, in a queue at that 1,06 price until some other user/users match your bet.

If no one does, then the bet is canceled when the market suspends (when a goal is scored or in the end).
