I try to go to StanJames today, but I can't.

Try to Ping Stanjames, i got this:

WTF, the DNS server is saying that my computer (127.0.0.1) is Stanjames server. I then try to flush my DNS, edit my hosts file, doing stuff that an average network admin would do and try to go to StanJames site again....still the same thing. Hmmm, this is interesting.

To verify that it is not my ISP that having a wrong DNS entry, I try this online tool:

Lo and behold, this is what i got:

It is so clear that somebody has hijacked/poisoned stanjames DNS
server and put in the wrong IP address (127.0.0.1).

THe bottom line is I can't do some live bets today. I don't know when will they fix it but this is very interesting.

@betplom: You can access SJ because your ISP are using cache DHS and hasn't updated the new poison DNS record yet....but many of of my friends are seeing the same thing...

You may have problems for a few days since it can take that long for DNS to replicate.

why not type in the direct ip address if it's only the dns record that is corrupt?

Querying on their own DNS server, the result for www.stanjames.com is a dead host with IP: 91.199.56.60

They have been down for several days, I don't know if StanJames intend to fold their business for good...Otherwise, they should fire their IT guy right on the spot....

Stanjames is a good book for the recrational players.

But I hate their takeover of betdirect. They suspended my account for 3 weeks.

Stan James have blocked some countries due to legal reasons (and because of attacks also).
If you happen to reside in a blocked country, then you will resolve www.stanjames.com to 127.0.0.1 (localhost).
(USA is one such blocked country)

You can always add the real IP to hosts file if you are blocked, or alternatively use ww2.stanjames.com as above!
