    Betislands down time

    Hi guys,

I hope all is well , first off I would like to apologize for all the inconveniences and techincal issues we have had the last couple of days. I understand how this disrupts your wagering and the hassles that comes along with this.

We are working around the clock to prevent anymore downtime and re enforcing our security to avoid any more DDOS attacks. With that being said Betislands is not going anywere we are not the first book to overcome these issues, our payouts have not been affected at all this is just a pure technical issue.

On that note I would like to offer all of our active players that have been affected by this downtime a freeplay , please contact us on live chat or email us so we may be able to credit your account with a house comp to compensate for all these issues.

Once again thank you for choosing Betislands and rest assure we will always do our best for our customers.

    Have a great day,

    Jon

Good to hear about the network upgrades. DoS are no fun and unfortunately defending against them is part of the business now.

Thanks for the update. Didn't affect me so no FP needed, nice gesture though. Glad I can deposit somewhere today.

Anyone try to contact them on live chat or email, curious to see how much FP they're giving out. If it's $50 FP w/ 9X rollover....no thankyou.

Lord only knows what Jon must be going through. With all of this happening it DOES NOT change one thing. They will continue to get all of my business.

They offered me $50 free play, 8 times rollover. Just not worth it, agreed.

  11. #11

It's a free play, how is it not worth it? I was offered a $75FP, 8x roll, max cash out $500.... This is how a class book handles player inconvenience, thanks Jon. 5 Dimes customer sevice should take note & learn how to treat players.

Jeez, some people would complain if they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth -- why wasn't it platinum! This book lost money due to the denial of service attack, went thru obvious headaches, had to invest more money to try and avoid them in the future, and is now handing out more money to its players for the smaller inconvenience caused for them. I am grateful for the freeplay I received and could not care less how much of a roll-over is associated with the FREE MONEY. Mr. Speedy, if a $450 roll-over is too much for you to worry about, I doubt BI is worried about your $2 bets. Seriously, you aren't planning on making $450 in wagers in the next month or two --- what book needs your business? But I a glad you are not taking any freeplay --- just less of an expense for a book I have money in!

Good point...But nobody is making $2 bets when BI minimum bet is $10

Heh.......why are you coming off so hard? If I choose to refuse their freeplay then that is my choice. When I get home off work I'm going to contact them and see what they give me. If it is worth my time, then i'll take it. If not, I'll simply say thank you but no thank you.

To be completely honest, $50 free play isn't worth the 3 days that the site was down. It is a nice gesture, but I'd much rather have a working book than $50 FP. I'm the type of guy who prefers to look at all the lines online, rather than calling in a single bet.

I got my free play turned into a free payout. They'd probably do the same for you.

A $50 free play has a value of $25 so I got it doubled essentially.

I'm coming off so hard, because I am getting tired of all the complaining from a bunch of whiners in all these BetIslands threads. All books have these types of issues from time to time, and I don't know of any other book that handles these situations as well as BI. You are correct, and if you don't like roll-overs then you don't need to accept a freeplay. It just sounded to me like more whining over nothing.

They already offer 1 free payout per month, up to 5K. If you need to withdraw more than 5k per month, congratulations.

Wasn't whining, go back and look at my original post. Simply asked if anyone has contacted them, and if it is under $50, simply no thankyou.

I am well aware of all the problems sportsbooks have faced. I have played at several sportsbooks the past couple years, even ones that had to move their customers (betjam).

I noticed people are getting different free play amounts, guessing it's 20% of your average bet size.

classy move from a classy book. not surprised.

what is a ddos attack, and what is the purpose of them? is there any reason that i should fear my information being stolen? should i change my password?

You may want to factor in you being one of the chief culprits in the bi doomsday rumors.

  29. #29

Short for Distributed Denial of Service, it is an attack where multiple compromised systems (which are usually infected with a Trojan) are used to target a single system causing a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. Victims of a DDoS attack consist of both the end targeted system and all systems maliciously used and controlled by the hacker in the distributed attack.

It's always good idea to change password once in awhile, I assume our info would be safe but not sure.
