    SBR interviews Victor Chandler

    SBR interviews Victor Chandler

SBR analyst Natalie Rydstrom interviews Victor Chandler, Chairman of BetVictor. Natalie asks background questions on how the Victor Chandler (SBR rating B) family business began, what makes it so successful today, and what Victor's views on the future iGaming climate are. Victor also addresses the prospect of re-entering the US market if legalization allows.

    I disagree
when it comes to NFL and EPL-it's a license to print money for US or UK facing books whatever odds they put on the board
Smaller European leagues is where they get crushed and are quick to limit much like US facing books do with Baseball totals and CBB totals
The AH market in play is where the sophistication lies

I used to bet there . but once when I made 5800$ from a 27$ BR in 3 days they limited the amount I can bet on basketball games.. So I moved to pinny .

next time I can't fall a sleep I'm going to listen to this interview, ******* boring

Has got to be the worst "big" UK book. Even Boylesports are less scared of taking a bet than Victor Chandler.

Complete joke of a book unless you are a addict/retard.

Bans winning poker players for taking liquidity out of market, bans anyone who beat their posted numbers in book. If you don't want to gamble you might as well just knock punter out in the alleyway with sack of coins but no no we're all too sophisticated for that tomfoolery tut tut.

This book attempted to defraud me using their "verification" system. They basically just didn't bother with my documentation (an overwhelming amount of which I had) and falsified evidence on their behalf (signup date) to require even more documentation from me. After which I had to contact SBR (whom they lied to repeatedly as is the norm for scam books) which eventually got them to actually bother to look at the documents I sent in.

I would have filed an IBAS claim and won easily with this scam bookie. I'd urge all players to verify account before sending them a single cent. This is an extremely common scam sportsbooks are running atm.

i am surprised (or shocked) to hear this. if it was a new poster i'd dismiss him as irrelevant.

in any case, i enjoyed betting there until i got account closure notification one day. but all my bets were paid out in fair manner.

they will not have sucess in the USA, i bet on horses in this site (commingle to usa) that is no risk for VC and they banned me after hitting 5 of 6 in Gulfstream Pick Six few years back.

They dont want any kind of winners.

It is becoming increasingly common in the industry. Selective enforcement of KYC "rules" (basically asking for increasingly difficult items to prove) is basically defrauding players. This book falsified my signup date (I know because I keep records which are organized by sign uo date) and then demanded utility bills from the prior address. I submitted some certified bank documentation and a copy of lease (lucky for me I don't throw anything away) in addition to multiple forms of ID and current utility bills. At this point they tried to mug me.

Basically, never deposit with a book that has selective KYC rules (basically all) without first asking what documents are needed to withdraw. Hopefully there will be a stop with this KYC fraud from bookmakers against players.

NB: The lack of a third party system of verification is a huge issue. The current system allows books to rob players citing proprietary KYC policies under the guise of "We don't want to make it easier for scammers", but in reality just robbing winning players. VC attempted this with me. I would put any amount of money on the line that my documents were sufficient initially and they just tried to shake me down. (Justin actually handled this dispute and suggested I simply resubmit all the prior documentation again together, which worked.) If they had robbed me successfully, I would be mired in a multi-month IBAS complaint instead of a governing body that specializes in KYC issues and can vet each player for the online gambling community.

But who would they rob with their security departments?!?

Yes, although most of them were sold to Coral in 2006. The most famous one retained is in Mayfair which is supposed to be 'upmarket'. Quite a contrast to this one in Paisley, although I'm not sure whether there was a deal to keep the name in use in Scotland after a sale.

Did I hear that correctly? You say you look after your clients better than most? What a complete joke!

Victor why do you sell the dream that people are allowed to win with you? How can you even call yourself a bookmaker when you close accounts after a couple of winning bets (not arbs)? The Gentleman's bookmaker? Fearless? My Arse! You are the least Gentlemanly of all the UK dross.

Employ some decent odds makers whose view you can back in the market place instead of taking your ball home like a spoilt child every time you lose a bet!

You talk about consolidation - just sell up to Bet365 and be done with it. You've lost your bottle.

You are too busy chasing the Bet365 model but you are too late!

This bokie must pay regulatory and ace homes and then expel the trader's winning players to be themselves to deceive Victor Chandler ...

No life is Mr Chandler, thou deceived many people, now has in his own home people to fool him ..

    Sorry for my English ...

One winner, one loser, and then a $250 bet on Gilles Simon to win the the Bucharest Open at 2.88, while at the same time Bet365 were 3.25 and I think 888/Blue Sq were 3.00. So clearly not an arb. And on top of that, VC had 7 days to get out of the huge liability that my bet obviously caused the company, but instead of acting like a bookmaker with an ounce of credibility, they probably did nothing, finding it much easier to just close my account.

Victor, if you are so scared of my tiny bets, why don't you just follow them to 10 times the stake instead of copy and pasting the usual bullshit below?

Not everyone is arbing you miserable sod! Bet365 put you to shame!

Wouldnt be surprised if I get a similar email in the next few days - tried betting something earlier today and it came up with an error message saying something like the bet couldnt be accepted at this time, so I refreshed the page and tried it again only to be told "the price has been amended"

Wouldnt have minded so much if they had been up front about the reason for the error saying my bet was being refered to the traders, and if it had come back as rejected, as at least that would be honest - but a dodgy error message and a price change on an event that wont be settled for a couple of months is just cowardly in my opinion.
