How do you cash a Canadian check on the US?

My old sportsbook sent me a Canadian check and no one wants to cash it

Who doesn't want to cash it, check cashing stores? Open a checking account at your local bank, they will cash it after the holding period. I received numerous Canadian checks from the old VIP Sports (R.I.P.), never had a problem cashing them.

Ok I took it to my bank first, they wouldn't. Then a check cashing place, they wouldn't. Then Ace check cashing who sent it up to home office and investigated saying the check is a fake and had it been cashed I'd of been had for forgery. WTF?!?

Depositing it would be your best bet but I have cashed Canadian checks at a check cashing store before, I think it was ACE. It was only a $500 check and they asked a lot of questions. I told them it was from an online investment . They took 3% and I was out the door. They had all of my information if they needed to track me down.

Which book sent you the fake check, 21KBet? I would be shocked if it was sent from an A or B rated book. It's unfortunate but if it was from a C rated or below book, you have to make better choices where to play.

This was from a B rated book (the first book I had ever used before we parted ways as this was my close out check). I'm going to talk with them before releasing a name should it not be resolved.

if you have a smaller local bank you can probably forget it. I had a bank in colorado last year that i tried to deposit a 3000 dollar canadian check from betjam into. They told me 80 percent of canadian checks were fake and if i wanted to depsoit it there would be a 45 day buisness hold which was crazy. I did what you did and got turned down by everyone. The check was almost the same as yours and they could even call and confirm the funds but they didnt want to. I called betjam and they actually recredited my account and send me 2 moneygrams. i sent the check back to them. The next time i did a check withdrawal i asked them not to send me a check from there and they actually sent me a hand written check from BkofAma but it jamaica. I was actually able to take it to the local BkofAma and cash it. I have never taken a check again from a bank. Some people have no problems with them here and some of us it sucks. Its not worth the hassel. Try a wire or a p2p

    good luck

Your right, it is a local bank though it is in a few states its no BkofAma. I called the sportsbook and they are going to email me with hopefully an alternate payment method within 2 days. Thanks for the advice.

Had Wellsfargo and deposited check from sportsbook.ag, deposited through ATM, cleared 3 days later.

I also cashed Canadian checks from the old VIP site, and never had a problem. I think I used Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) and BkofAma.
