Default 3% commission max rate for 2012 at Betdaq.

Existing Betdaq customer - I email them, requesting the 3% commission rate (normally 5%) and they granted it thru 2012.

New customers get the 3% rate also.

Surprised these guys are still around after 10 or so years. Company has been run very poorly over the years and the site is almost unusable (a few markets aside). Also be warned you have to pay to get your money out if you dont cover their charge fees.

How many here actually use them? Thought about opening an account with them as Betfair doesn't allow users from where I am.

Betdaq: More markets--> no liquidity, so still can't get odds you want.

Smarkets: Less Markets--->same odds as betfair, less commision.
They will grow give them time, they won't sit around and go stale like Betdaq. Useless book to have.

Betdaq is good for some things - put a small amount of money there and try it out.

Sometimes you'll find better than Betfair or equal, at less commission.

Could be the next best thing if Betfair decides to get too greedy.

I'm not sure how much more greedy you could get, premium charge. 5% commisions (before discounts).
We need these new exchanges to step up. At least smarkets is trying, time will tell.

i've heard about betdaq and matchbook. this is the first time i've heard about smarkets. no doubt betfair needs more competition.

yes, on the surface you'd think more competition would be a good thing but I'm not so sure that for exchanges the best outcome for punters isn't to have all players on the same page providing as much liquidity as possible rather than trading in a fragmented market

Doesn't that just say something about the players? why wouldn't players do a shift to betdaq and get the liquidity up and have a more profitable time with less tax.

If you could organise a mass migration perhaps it would work but most won't move until they see the liquidity ... very much a first to make it big industry which virtually shuts out competition

Similar thing with Facebook, Twitter etc?

competition and price war is definitely good thing for customer (unless it goes too far but i think 3% is still pretty good take for exchange).

with betdaq, small player who bets mainstream markets, now has more cost-effective choice.
on everything else, betfair wins out.
