Shayla in their CS department wrote me the processor does not give them the tracking numbers
I asked why and she writes "to protect themselves"

    Does this make any sense???????

Not specifically, though I have an educated guess why... because they are not the only book that has gone this route. Other books have told me they no longer provide tracking numbers.

What you can do, however, is call FedEx, mention you are expecting a package but do not have the tracking # (obviously don't mention what you're expecting, FedEx doesn't care), and ask them if there's a package on the way to your address. They won't give you the tracking # for security purposes, but you can at least figure out when it's coming that way. If they don't have anything in their system, just call back the next morning and ask again.

    Hope this helps.

Does it make sense? Unfortunately, given the current environment in the US, anything the books/processors want to do to be cautious does make sense, even if it's not super-logical on the surface.
