Betfair ans SMarkets have absolutely same prices, but
+SMArkets commision is only 2% while Betfair is 5%
+No complaints for now and fast payments.
-Slow time to settle the bets
-The owners are fair ,but they dont have much money in the bank like Betfair

They switched to 2% on Monday so I've signed up now. The odds were pretty much the same as Betfair on the Arsenal-Leeds match but the 2% put a bit more cash in my pocket. Betting against the 0-0 was a good move! Thanks Thierry!

I think I'll stick with them for a while and report back later.

    Hi everyone,

I work for Smarkets and was granted permission to post on this board in order to address the questions you have.

With regards to the claims that we have software that places bets on Betfair: this isn't true. There's no rule that says exchanges have to have different odds. What we are offering is similar (and in some cases, the same) odds as other exchanges with a lower base-commission. And regarding what happened during the recent Betfair downtime, one of our main market makers hedges via Betfair, so users had to go peer-to-peer for awhile.

We've improved the site search so that upcoming football and horse races automatically show up and we're working on fixing it so that it orders events chronologically.

A link to our API in progress can be found here: http://smarkets.github.com/

As you have probably read, we dropped our commission to a flat rate of 2% this week. This makes us the exchange with the lowest base-commission in the industry.

Other things we're working on: a mobile site, multi-currency, and offering more markets for you to bet on.

Please let us know if you have questions. We value any suggestions and constructive criticism users and potential users offer, as we want to improve!

    Thanks,

    Smarkets

    Hi all,

We are throwing an open house at the end of January in London. This would be a great time for you to meet us and let us know what you're looking for in a betting exchange. We'll have drinks (beer) on hand, as well as some food. You can check out the full details here: bit.ly/zYsCID

Hope to see some of you out!

Wanted to let everyone know we're trialling new EUR accounts. We also recently launched a mobile site: http//m.smarkets.com - feedback is welcome!

Hi Jason - are the EUR accounts fixed or is there a quasi EUR/GBP floating about in the background?

They do Tommy albeit there are no markets for wombat racing.

The only geographical restrictions they have are for the US and Turkey.

Thanks mate, I just made an acct about an hour ago. Deposited a small amount to see what these guys are like.

Not having wombat racing is a bit of a bummer as that's where I make most of my $$$.

What are your thoughts so far 4lengths?

Hi Chachi - we pull mid-market rates daily so it's not fixed. does that answer your question?

Hi Officialsmarkets, why does it take so long for you guys to grade horse races!

Hi we wait to settle horse races until after the weigh in, to avoid the possibility of resettlement if a runner were to be disqualified.

So then they aren't really EUR accounts in the sense that if I deposit €500 to you its a floating GBP amount against the peg that was in place when I made the initial deposit and if EUR/GBP tanks then my balance will reduce?

I have positive feedback for Smarkets.

Biggest problem is that they don't accept accounts in Euros. Also, they would try to be covered by all alert services, so bigger players would join them.

Hi Chachi, I think we might have misunderstood your initial question about EUR accounts being fixed. Your account is kept in EUR currency - it does not increase or decrease due to currency fluctuations.

Thanks for the suggestion. While we do not have a time line to implement Neteller at the moment, we have many other options available. You can currently deposit using major d and c cards, moneybookers and DBT.

What markets are you interested in having? We can probably add them.

Just about any international game be it Test, ODI or T20 and of course any of the local T20 events such as the Big Bash or IPL. I'm sure you know just how much money is traded on these games. Thanks.

We're working on adding a regular slate of cricket games. Right now we have a few up there and will try to add more. Thanks for your feedback.
