The last 3 $1000 credit card deposits that I have made ended up being charged $1030 on my credit card statement. Beware of extra charges (probably foreign exchange charge) when depositing via credit card at WSEX.

In the UK, your credit card company will charge you 2.5% or 3% if you deposit to a book. Nothing to do with WSEX really.

I've had that happen before with other books, because there's a fee associated with "foreign transactions."

The overcharge was odd because all of my previous credit card charges with WSEX were actually a few pennies less than what I deposited into my account. The payee now is different than what I previously saw on my statement. I haven't had this issue with Bookmaker credit card deposits.

I had the same thing happen to me and asked WSEX, here's their reply........

Banks and Visa International have the discretion to add fees to transfers as they wish. With each month, stronger restrictions are put in place to discourage customers from using their cards for online gaming and as such we continue to find ways for you to fund your account.

We do not process your credit card transfers with fees, in fact the transfers are charged at a discount.

We recommend that you to either utilize another card or another funding option as this incident may occur again.


FYI, you have to check your statement to see how these are added. I've had the extra charge added separate and also tacked on to the original charge.
As in a charge of $1000 came back on one statement as being $1030. With the other being an individual $30 fee.

It's not just WSEX, I've had it at a few sites, sports and poker. My bank told me it's a charge from Visa, 2% for international charges. Think they started doing it a few months ago.
My fees were also charged separate, that's why I called my bank first to see what they hell they were.

Figures Visa goes public and the first thing they do is figure out ways to tack on extra fees to boost the stock price.....
