MatchBook.com Withdrawal
Alright, I have just requested a bank check courier withdrawal today, 09/14/2008. But this should be processed tomorrow, 09/15/2008. With all the concerns that some bettors had about their previous withdrawals, I will keep a steady stream of updates on this one. Hopefully, they won't have a problem anymore with their processor and I will receive my check between 5 and 7 days.

Good thread Bear. It's not the processing issues that some of us are worried abt. If they were to "accidentally" send me a check by regular mail vs. Fed Ex I would never receive it. Some of us have to receive by courier.
Just 3 months ago, if you ordered on Monday--it would be in your hands Fed EX by Thursday afternoon. This is what I am waiting for them to return to.
Again, appreciate the thread.

Sounds fishy. Plan on it taking 3 weeks so at least you can be pleasantly surprised if it takes less time

I've never had a Matchbook check come back, but my banks say that the check may be returned because of NSF, and a couple of times they have told that the check is being returned, but it never happens, and the check clears without incident.
I've had two different major banks say the same thing about 5 or 6 times over the last year.
Is anyone familiar with this occurance?

This sorta thing happens from time to time sir. Unfortunately though most people haven't been as luck as you have been. If this ever happens to you, what you would need to do is call the book and explain the situation in order to have the matter rectified.

3 cheers for Matchbook
hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray! Everything back to normal.
"Dear xxxxx,
Firstly let me please apologise for the delay with your check withdrawal.
Lately we started using a new processor for sending courier mail checks. Unfortunately, errors on the part of the processing company, who needless to say we won't be doing business with again, has resulted in a number of batches (including your checks) being delayed.
Our other processors are operating as normal, so it's now a question of tracking down and rerouting all the old checks and getting them sent out through new processors. The situation we are left with, unfortunately, is that all recent checks (requested over the past 6 days) are being sent as normal, but we are still clearing up the backlog of checks from our ex-processor who caused all these problems.
We should have everything back on schedule in the next few days and courier mail checks will again be delivered in 4-5 days.
I have credited the $39 fee back to your account and have also added $50 in commission credits for each of your checks to hopefully compensate you in some way for the delay.
As soon as I have a tracking number for your check I will forward it to you immediately. In the meantime, if you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me."

Are WSEX and Matchbook still providing checks that are issued by Canadian banks?

This is a scam run by your bank that I found out the hard way, well almost the hard way had I not been warned. Most all checks you deposit, even those put on hold, will show cleared after 1 or 2 business days. THEY ARE NOT CLEAR. You need to wait a minimum of 30 days after it shows cleared for foreign checks before you mess with the funds. For US based checks you need to wait 2-3 weeks after it shows the funds are clear and are available in your account. Your local bank wants you to spend the funds and then they can hit you with hundreds in bounced transaction fees if the check is going to bounce.
I had a US check that showed clear in 1 day and 3 days later the funds were taken out and it had bounced. I had been told the same thing from another guy and luckily followed his advice. Don't touch the money for weeks I'm warning you. Even with the good books they change processors all the time and things happen much more frequently than they use to.

A Matchbook check bounced today. It was an August 27 "courier" check drawn on a U.S. bank in Minnesota which arrived 23 days later via regular mail.
Not good.

I received a check from matchbook on monday and havn't yet deposited it. Are you saying that I won't receive the money or that I shouldn't withdraw it below that amount in my account?

Not saying anything except to inform everybody that my checks bounced - that's all. But if I were in your case, I'd deposit the check and then wait for it to clear.

It's likely to be the fault of the processor they stopped using, but we'll wait and see.

My check bounced as well... I emailed matchbook, and will keep you informed with what they say. I hope others will do the same.
Also, I am not sure how this could be the fault of the old processor, as some of the checks in question were sent out after they got rid of the old processor and started using a new one.

I have the same problem. I have a check that came back. Apparantly all the checks from the previous processor will be returned NSF, and then you will have to contact Matchbook for a new one. I received 2 checks from the new processor and deposited them without any problem so far. I deposited them Monday. Also, Matchbook emailed the Fedex tracking number, so hopefully, things will return at least to the 2 business days thru Fedex. Not quite the good ole days of Neteller, but better then the complete nightmare of the last 3 months of this processor.

Correct, bleedblue. Matchbook can't blame the old processor anymore. Who do they blame next? We'll see. Meanwhile, all of us will keep depositing bad checks and thus making ourselves look bad to our local bank.

Climate, it took my bank a week to declare the check as NSF. Considering that you depossited your latest one on Monday probably doesn't guarantee that it's a good check. I hope it turns out well but I woudn't hold my breath. Barishnikov's bounced check came from the new processor. Basically, we're close to 1 month of not getting paid by Matchbook at this point.

barishnikov,
reading your posts, you stated that 2 checks bounced. Did they both arrive by regular mail?.....or 1 by regular mail and 1 by "courier?"

now i could be wrong but i think the bounced checks are the ones that came thru the regular mail
the new ones that went out thru fedex should be fine
what we need to know is if the new ones that were sent out thru fedex whether those got bounced or not
so far no but still waitng to see if anyone reports otherwise

Correct KAPS. I thought that matchbook dumped the new processor by the end of the week 9/7 - 9/14. That's why I thought Barishnikov's check request on 9/14 (basically 9/15 which is a monday) came from the new processor?
Anyhow, I requested one on 9/22 which hasn't arrived yet as far as I know but I need to double check with my secretary so don't quote me on that yet.
