Father's Day proved to be one of my 2nd best money earning day of the season as the bankroll gainted a total of $820 on an 8-2 effort. BEST BETS went 2-1 gaining some massice juice with the two hits on Florida, and the Mets -1.5 in Game of their doubleheader with Texas. The BEST BEST loser was on Houston, who took a 13-0 rapping from the Yankees.
Winners on Sunday included Cleveland, G1 Texas, Florida, Milwaukee, Oakland, G2 NY Mets -1.5, Kansas City, and the Angels. The two losers were both hammered out off the field as neither Cincinnati or Houston managed to scratch in their contests.
Sunday's effort concluded what was the best week of the season so far as the bankroll climbed $1102 since last Monday and actually gives me a little hope that things might possibly be beginning to go my way. Only thing that went bad Sunday was that I managed to go 4-1 on both 5-team parlays. Figure that is plain bad luck that the two losses couldn't have shown up on one card....oh well I don't want to seem greedy.
MLB action on Monday is light, so I am posting just one BEST BET selection for the day.
After dropping the first game of their series with the Red, Boston came back strong to get wins in the final contests of the series, including a 9-rock beating on Sunday. Philadelphia, on the otherhand, pounded out 20 runs on the Cardinals in the first game of their series, and then proceeded to drop the final two contests against St Louis, including a 7-6 10 inning loss on Sunday.
Colon will get the nod tonight against the Phillies as he looks to continue a solid start to his 2008 campaign. Colon got win in last start as he worked 6 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits in a 6-3 win over Baltimore. That outing was a nice bounce back from his only ugly start of the 5 he has made so far. Red Sox have won both of the road starts of Colon, not bad considering the Red Sox are still under .500 in road tilts.
After a stretch that saw the Phillies win 6 of his starts in a row, Philly has now dropped 2 of the last 3 starts by Cole Hamels. Hamels pitched well in last start against Florida, allowing 2 runs in 8 innings of work, but that proved to be a 6-2 win for the Marlins. Hamels does have two shutouts on the season so far.
Boston seems to be getting hot with the bats, and that will certainly give the Phillies and Hamels something to contemplate on Monday and with the current price on the Phillies being so high, I am going to back the visiting Red Sox with my BEST BET selection for the day.
Boston Colon +146
BEST OF LUCK to everyone with their action
