Default OT: Obama is done

not a smart move. even if he get elected, he'll get shot within 10 min.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday proposed overhauling the tax code to lower taxes for the poor and middle class, increase them for the rich and make it so most Americans can file their taxes in five minutes.

Sen. Barack Obama delivers his tax overhal plan Tuesday in Washington.

The tax relief plan he envisions for the middle class alone would mean $80 billion or more in tax cuts, he said.

Obama, an Illinois Democrat who is a front-runner for his party's 2008 presidential nomination, said during a speech at the Tax Policy Center that the present tax code reflects the wrong priorities because it rewards wealth instead of work.

"Instead of having all of us pay our fair share, we've got over $1 trillion worth of loopholes in the corporate tax code," he said. "This isn't the invisible hand of the market at work. It's the successful work of special interests."

The result, according to Obama? "Gaps in wealth in this country grow wider, while the costs to working people are greater."

His plan means billions in breaks by nixing income taxes for the 7 million senior citizens making less than $50,000 a year, establishing a universal credit for the 10 million homeowners who do not itemize their deductions -- most of whom make less than $50,000 annually -- and providing 150 million Americans with tax cuts of up to $1,000.

"I'd reward work by providing an income tax cut of up to $500 per person -- or $1,000 for each working family -- to offset the payroll tax that they're already paying," he said.

"Because this credit would be greater than their income tax bill, my proposal would effectively eliminate all income taxes for 10 million working Americans."

Obama also said he would repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans.

"At a time when Americans are working harder than ever, we are taxing income from work at nearly twice the level that we're taxing gains for investors," Obama said. "We've lost the balance between work and wealth."

Obama also said he'd simplify the tax code so that any employed American with a bank account can do their taxes in minutes if they take the standard deduction. It makes sense, he said, because the Internal Revenue Service already collects wage and bank account information.

"There's no reason the IRS can't send Americans pre-filled tax forms to verify," he said. "This means no more worry. No more wasted time. No more extra expenses for a tax preparer."

Obama proposes funding the tax cuts by closing corporate loopholes, cracking down on international tax havens and increasing the dividend-and-capital-gains tax for the wealthy, he said.

He called his proposal a "fair" alternative to the present tax code and said it was necessary because hard times on Main Street translate to hard times on Wall Street.

"When the changes in our economy are leaving too many people behind, the competitiveness of our country risks falling behind," he said. "When that dream of opportunity is denied to too many Americans, then ultimately that pain has a way of trickling up."

You're probably right. The poltical mudrackers will now call him
a socialist or a communist. They tossed those words
around for the past decades and it worked. People are
catching on though so maybe there is hope.

When the average working guy votes for the R's especially
the neo R's I get befuddled. Almost every piece of legislation they back is favorable to the very rich and detrimental to the average guy. Just think about this new prescription
drug plan. If the government would have been allowed to
bargain for price it would have saved billions. But, no let
the market solve the problem. How well has the market solved the problem so far?

Remember the "trickle down theory" that turned out to be
complete bs too. Even David Stockman admitted it.

I like how the Republicans are always to blame with this guy. Obama lacks the experience and foreign relations experience to run this country. He is a political lightweight who made the bigs because he is the Democrat's "Great Black Hope." If he were white, no one would give a rat's ass about him. Open your eyes!

Default Obama,Hillary,Fred Thompson,Glove Romney etal.are all turds!

Arguing over which democrat is better than the other democrat or arguing which party is better is like arguing over which outhouse, the womens or mens would be best to fall into. You have to weigh the options like, are massive turds better than jelly rolls etc.I know I'm gross here but politics is gross.

Politics is about as sincere as pro sports where only friggin idiot fans get excited who wins when they don't even bet on the game or wear face paint and cheer.Do you think the players even care what town or state they play in?They might be happier depending on how generous the tax subsidy welfare is to pay for the stadium they play in which means more money in their pocket. At least with pro wrestling they now have to call it entertainment and not a sport. They should have to run a disclaimer with politics that it's not real and is just a baggy pants farce.

If a politician ever did the right thing making blunt remarks and hard decisions to get the country on the right track like Ron Paul would do they get tormented and ridiculed. For Ron Paul to get elected by the masses would be like children outlawing the tooth fairy,Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.Adult children vote for politicians because they think they are their Santa,Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny.Isn't it embarrassing hearing people like Hillary stand before her supporting gangs like unions, single mothers and left wing academia, left wing medicine telling them that if she's president she will give them anything they want.

I usually gloss over your posts, Mr. Crude, no offense. Something about how you write one long run-on sentence complete with punctuation that gives me a headache. But that was a right fine comment

The problem with proposing something like this is it's as worthless as one of Crude's previously described jelly rolls since there's an ice cube's chance in hell of it ever becoming law, especially if it's introduced by the president. Have someone run and promise to cut 10% from the salaries of all members of Congress and make them kick into Social Security, and though the ballots might declare them a winner, there's no way that would get through Congress.

Give me a flat tax rate for that FICA dude who dips into my paycheck, or do away with both federal income taxes and Social Security and plop about a 24% federal sales tax on everything with each American exempt from the first $18,000 they spend each year. Either one of those is fine with me.

This race was Hillarys to lose from the beginning anyway. Obama is more conservative than Hillary in most business issues. Even though most white Americans would be afraid of him he would be the better choice but she is the man in a matter of speaking.

LOL, you guys actually believe we elect people?? The 2008 "elections" were decided many years ago by people with money and real power. The people are the pawns and who controls them? The media. Here's your ticket.....Clinton and VP Obama win the presidency. There's no doubt about it in my mind that Hillary will be our "elected" Queen, unless she strips to her bra and panties and does the chicken dance during a press conference (or something similar). Do I want it this way? No, but that's the way it is.

Bill Clinton was given the Presidency because he ran the US side of the Iran Contra drug for guns pipeline. Reagan wanted to replace him because he was stealing too much of the loot. Clinton threatened to go public so a deal was struck giving Clinton the white house after Bush the Elder was allowed to soil the building for a while. Reagan had no idea that Bush the Elder was going to betray everything Reagan stood for.

What I am wondering is what dirt does Lesbian Hillary have on the Bush's? What deal did she make?

I am hoping that the WWF runs a whole slate of candidates for President, governor of several states, congress, etc. The candidate for President should have a name like Killer, or Masher, Animal, or Subhuman....something like that.

Are you people on here really that stupid, Everything the goverment gets into has giant cost overruns! You say if they were able to negotiate price on drugs they would be cheaper? Why should they be cheaper the phar companies do r+d for about 50 drugs before 1 gets through to recoup the money learn real economics. The top 1 percent of the the rich in this country pay over 70 percent of the taxes, and thats after fining every loophole they can, so please spare me the poor middle class bs! The problem with the middle class is they are taxed on everythiig in the world, from gas to food to property to tools to cigs and booze thats why they have no money left over. They also live way beyond their means! Couples making 60000 a year shouldn't be buying 300000 dollar houses, and saying poor me I have no money!

Default Obama Will Make Either A Great Pres. Or V.p.

PATRICKBATEMAN:you seem not be aware of WHAT you got in the white house right now!!,if OBAMA is a light weight than what the f*ck is god-dammed BUSH!
Obama is not a "black hope"he is for real!! (jessie jackall,Al Sharpton or garbage of this kind is)

Dante1: OBAMA will not get shot by a white supremacist patsy(as so many are wishing for) the Elites will not allow it,it would be too obvious beside he is not a outsider but like Powell a TOTAL "team player".Needless to say that the anger resulting from is assassination would be unimaginable and uncontrollable.
It is like Ron Paul supporters they are afraid that HE will be shot also because he will run as a independent and for his policies. He AS totally captured the harts and minds of most of the main pillars in the informative underground such as:Alex Jones,Jeff Rense and Jim Marss to only name these , is assignation would be to much for the power elite to handle!
His supporters would literally foment a insurrection!
