this years NBA Draft was awful

after watching the NBA draft tonight, i've came to conclusion that this draft was just awful.

heres just a couple of gems that happen tonight:

take portland for example. the trailblazers had no idea at all on which direction they were even going, and proved that fact with there draft. BTW, how many trades did they end up making tonight

i felt orlando made a big mistake by drafting JJ Reddick as high as they did. this kid has a bad back, and is a role player at best IMO. wouldn't you figure they would have learned after what they went thru with mcgrady.

Portland and New York must have had little kids making their picks. Either that or they were throwing darts at the draft board.

alot of other including myself believe that portland
did a magnificent job in the draft last evening. i think
portland took a huge step into the future and made some
great picks. even the guys on espn said so as well.

Thats not saying much. You cant really go off what those "so called experts" are saying. They get paid to run their mouths, no matter if its true or not.

I havent really reviewed the draft yet, it came off boring to me yesterday. So I turned the channel to a baseball game.

Before this years class was made, I was excited since the Hornets had 2 picks in the top 15. But it dont do much when this is considered the weakest draft in recent memory. I dont even think anyone here can agree on a rookie of the year from this class.

This draft did not have many stars or players with outrageously high expectations, but I think there will be quite a few pleasant surprises when we look back on it a couple years down the road. There was a lot of athletic talent on the board and some of the players are going to break through bigtime at the next level.

Portland was all over the map but they did pick up some quality pieces even if their methods were a bit idiotic.

It is impossible to argue that the Knicks drafted well. For a team that has so many holes and so much room for improvement, it is actually impressive that they found 2 players available in the first round that can not conceivably help them win games. I'm not sure I can ever remember poorer draft day decision making.

As a Raptors fan (more-or-less) it was disappointing. The ping pong balls finally go our way - but it had to be in this year-of-no-stars. Apparently our new GM Colangelo was working hard to trade that #1 overall pick but all he got was yawns.

I don't know what to think of this Bargnani kid. No idea. Not a clue. Hopefully the new management team knows what it's doing.

Yeah, Warriors fans didn't get a lot to hang their hat on. I think Chicago will turn the corner with this draft and begin to be a true contender in the East.

How about the "Fire Isiah" chants? He might just want to cut his losses and not put himself through this. What's his thought process with everyone already wanting his head? I'll show them! 30 wins this season baby!

He needs to get out of the first round for the nightmare to end IMO.

I don't think there has ever been as bad a manager as Isiah in NBA. All notoriusly bad franchises always had an excuse. Clippers did not want to spend any money and traded away all valuable players. Toronto is in Canada and your typical baller does not want to play there etc. But New York, supposed to be the Mecca of all basketball, lots and lots of tradition, nearly unlimited funding, almost every player wants to live there. How can you mess up a franchise with these attributes, and mess up is an understatement. Go catch a squirrel from central park, and it will do better job than Isiah.

I am still waiting for the signing of Mike James to complete the 5 shoot-first-point-guards-squad. Also the Frye and every possible first rounder we still might have left before 2015 for Kenyon Martins knees deal.

After these have been done, the legacy is finished. He will leave the knicks next year having secured about 50% of leagues worst contracts while giving away all possible draft picks, compiled the most unbalanced and expensive team ever and broken the record of head cases on one roster.

The draft was just like the NBA - dumb.
Loved to see many college guys I loved watching get drafted - it's a shame I probably won't see them play again until maybe the playoffs.

Props out to Sacratomato for taking Quincy Douby, my boy.
He is by FAR the best outside shooter in the draft, and the kid has moves, too.
He's got 10x the 3 point stroke than JJ DWI...
But that's what he gets for going to Rutgers, he gets to go to a decent NBA team... Good for him.

I also might add, living in the NY market - when the Knicks suck, basketball REALLY sucks. Call me in 5 years or so when they are 'on the rise to the playoffs'. NY is not the same when the Knicks stink. It really isn't. Isiah is the biggest trainwreck since... Crap, I don't think there's been a bigger one in sports.
