Default Argentina- Germany!!! Thoughts????

Well,

For those soccer fans out there this has to be feast foy your eyes.
Take a trip down memory lane and remeber the World Cup Finals of 86 and 90.
More than 100,000 people in Mexico city saw Maradona rise to the soccer heaven after a brilliant pass to Burruchaga who scored the final goal agaist those fisty germans that had already come back from a 0-2. But there was no time left. Argentina was tha champion!!, Maradona was the King!!

Four years latter revenge would come, Germany had been by far the best team in the cup when they met Argentina that had stumbled and (penalty kicked) their way to the final thanks to multiple saves by Sergio Goicoechea. It was Olimpico Stadium in Rome, the game was headed to overtime when mexican referee Edgardo Codezal called an infamous pk against Argentina. This time Goicoechea couldnt and Andreas Brehme scores the only goal of the final.

Now... they meet again.
The stage is set for two giants of soccer to clash today at the Olimpiastadion of Berlin.
One has a slightly better team: Argentina
the other one has the advantage of being at home.
We can't do less but home for another magical moment, another moment that we can remeber 20 years... 50 years down the road.
Hoping for the best refereeing possible and for this two teams to give their best.
You can tell me Brazil all you want, I think tha winner of this game will probably go all the way!!!

The odds have shifted slighty in Germanys favor.
-145 to advance or so.
Might be a nice time to get Argentina at +105 or so.
Still, I think this game is a tossup
Safest bet could be the Under 2.5 at -160 or so...

Anyway, betting or not, enjoy the game.
I cant wait...
Enyoy the game guys, I cant wait

This, to me, is worthy of a final matchup.
I won't be wagering the game. If I did - I'd hate to go against history and I'd hate even more betting against a home team.... But I have to go with the home team if I _HAD_ to.

I've been juiced for this game all week...
I slept an hour because I'm looking forward to it so much.
This really is a battle of 2 of the 3 heavyweights still left - both historically and currently (although, the germans were way down on their team pre-cup).

As a sports fan, this is as good as it gets. It's not quite Red Sox/Yankees in terms of rivalry, but in terms of World Cup play - it's about as good a matchup as you'll ever get to see...

Lets hope that the officials do not reward Argentina's world-class diving.. To me, that could be, and probably will be, the difference.

If your a sports fan, this is the type of thing you wait 4 years to get -- and hopefully it will live up to the billing. Both of these teams are exceptional and do everything very very well.

Halftime... still scoreless.
I think Argentina has had more possesion but Germany did have the only real scoring chance. (Ballack's header)
The under seems like a lock...
Hope both teams play better in the second half and Argentina can pull it off.
Referee tight but a non factor so far... for a change.

Holy CRAP! what a game!
I have to cheer for Germany, only for heritage reasons...
I hate seeing a team win in PKs... No, it's total BS - but that was some SERIOUS drama that is going to be engraved in world cup history.
Wow, what a freakin game... 2 heavyweights goin at it.
Size vs speed
Creativity vs tactics
Argentina did very well that game and didn't deserve to go home like that.
I'm sort of jaded like that, but inside I'm jumpin for joy as they are the only team that I really want to support other than England (who stinks), for heritage reasons (yeah - I'm real Euro-heritage like that).
I WANT to cheer for Brazil, but when they win, my town breaks out in an impromtu parade (since there are 40k+ easy legal/illegal brazillians in the area)... Of which, I have family cheering (brother-in-law). I just CANT cheer for Brazil, although I'm very happy for my family when they win.

At any rate - that game was an insta-classic. What a grudge match.
It was way better than I thought it would've been, but really a bad way to end it. I would've loved to see both teams go at it until midnight if they had to.

I accidentally put a hole in the dry-wall when Klose banged home that header.
Gonna be a bitch patching up the ceiling before I move... *sigh*

Ah well -- Germany moves on:> It was worth the hour or so of work.
