July Soccer Picks
Outside of my World Cup picks though...
Russian Soccer 2010 9-8-1 +0.18 units (52.94%)
Anzhi +1.5 (-109) to win 1 unit
Russian soccer getting back underway with the World Cup winding down now. Zenit was playing pretty well going into the break being in first place with a game in hand, and they actually hadn't lost a single game yet this season. Theyve won 5 in a row. Anzhi is in 12th place and havent played well. They haven't won since April. But my problem is that Zenit tends to lose or not play well in this case to teams that they should easily beat. I think with the added fact that they haven't played a game in a month and there will be a little rust, this ends up a close game. Hopefully Zenit wins , but Anzhi covers.

Just real quick, Spartak has played great at home, having not lost a game. But Rostov has a pretty decent road record themselves going 2-1-2. Spartak's last game they got blown out 5-2 to one of the worst teams in the entire league.

Hm..I might be missing something but Amkar hasn't won since the beginning of April and Tomsk is on a 3 game winning streak right now. Amkar hasn't either won or drawn 8 games in a row and has scored just 8 goals in those 4 games. Tomsk has played pretty well this season, even giving the best teams in the league some fits. Think they probably win this game TBH.

Spartak Moscow pick -107 to win 1 unit
Pretty evenly matched game here. Spartak didn't play that well in the cup earlier in the week. But Rubin Kazan not only didn't play well, they lost the game to a second division opponent. Spartak have a price nice home field advantage. So far this year this is the #1 most attending team by a decently wide margin. They've only given up 3 goals at home in 6 games. The 2 games they actually lost at home, were the first 2 of the season, and they haven't lost since.Rubin has struggled scoring on the road just scoring 5, compared to teams like Zenit and CSKA who have scored 11 each on the road. Head 2 Head these guys are pretty evenly matched since the Premier League started. Should be an interesting-evenly matched game. I honestly expect a draw but going the safe way on this one.

Anji Makhachkala +0.5/+1 (-101) to win 1 unit
Tom Tomsk had a tough run at things. They lost in the Russian Cup earlier this week and lost to Perm by way of injury time goal. They gave up 10+ shots (20 shots overall) on goal to Perm last week and they looked like they were sitting back on there heels the whole game. Anji Makhachkala has played decently well on the road this year against some tough competition like Zenit and Rubin (though losing both). I think Tom Tomsk is going threw a rough stretch right now and I expect Anji to give them a close game.

I'm trying to look away from the 5-0 loss they suffered in the Russian Cup to a Division 1 opponent. Its tough though. I'll go with the fact that Saturn hasn't won a game at home, in 5 straight games. Saturn has failed to score in half of there games while Nilchik has scored in nearly all. Saturn is giving up 1 goal a game as well. Nilchik hasn't won 4 in a row on the road not including the cup, but 3 of the 4 teams they lost to are in top of the league. I think this presents some good value for them to bounce back. |

Pretty simple and cut and dry here. Sibir hasn't played the greatest soccer the so far this season. But Spartak Moscow has won just 1 game on the road so far this year. They've really been struggling of late on both sides of the ball. Watching Sibir last weekend against Zenit, even against far more superior talent they looked competitive for most of the game. I think Sibir keeps this one close.

Gonna keep these pretty short
Rubin -120 to win 1 unit
Rubin is always a solid team and have pretty much owned Dynamo Moscow for a few years now. They have a 6 game winning streak over them since 2007. Rubin is scoring 1 goal a game while Dynamo is conceding 1.15. Dynamo has 1 win on the road and Rubin is conceding 0.23 goals a game this year. There worst defeat of the year so far has been at a deficit of 1-0. Think they win this one rather easily.
Zenit -110 to win 1 unit
I've always believed in riding the hot teams .. Zenit hasn't lost a game all year and there statistics show they've actually played better on the road. Rostov is in the top half of the league but I still think Zenit should win , hopefully this wont be a let down game since the Champions League is next week

Zenit -125 to win 1 unit
Granted that I don't exactly know a ton about Unirea. But I do know that Zenit is the hottest team in the Russian league and they haven't lose a game yet. There offense is clicking all cylinders right now. They've won most of there games by 2 goals or more. I also think it has to help that Zenit (even with the summer break) has 13 games under there belt while Unirea is really just starting there season. Zenit is more into the groove of things and I think they win this one
Omonia Nicosia pick/-0.5 -116 to win 1 unit
Im basing this pick on one thing. Salzburg lost to a team from the Faroe Islands on the road. Granted they won 5-0 at home, but still that looks really suspect to me.

Always a solid team and pretty good at home. BATE also in midseason while the Denmark Premier League has just started. BATE shoudl win this game, but I'll go the safe route and stick with the +0.
Celtic +0.5 -116 to win 1 unit
Doesn't seem that Sporting Braga has played a game in over 2 months which should affect them. Celtic have been on the road for a couple weeks and should be well in shape. Also Braga without the starting GK.

Nalchik has played pretty well at home and they are 4th in the league. Amkar, not playing too well and only scoring 0.43 goals a game on the road. They also haven't won a road game all year, so lets hope that Spartak Nalchik holds up to their end of the deal.

Nalchik scored 12 goals and conceded 5 goals at home matches
on the hand Amkar scored only 3 goals conceded 8 goals at away matches,
do u suggest nalchik -1 ?

Don't like to do this, but gonna bet against my home town team. I'm hoping for a draw actually in this situation. Zenit hasn't lost all season. But they now they are starting Champions League play and they have a big game coming up next week. I think this could have some type of affect on them. But most importantly I think that Rubin Kazan has been playing great on defense this season. They are great on the road, only giving up 0.17 goals per game (they've actually on given up 1 goal altogether on the road). I think this is a tight game threw out and you see a final score of 0-0.

CSKA pick -108 to win 1 unit
Two pretty evenly matched teams. CSKA has only lost 1 road game this year. They average nearly 2 goals a game on the road. There defense is also pretty strong, which is what you might argue is Spartak Moscow's weakness, defense. They also just look like the better team and IMO have better players.
