Messi or Rooney ?
who plays better now ? who do you think that will win the golden ball this year, the competitions being for sure between these two guys...
i personally adore football players like MESSI, it is such a huge joy watching him playing. this week, he score 8 goals, absolutely amazing

everyting, headers, long shots amazing dribbling, and does it on the big stage
reminds me a bit of hagi, but much faster, adapted to the nowadays football
rooney is hot but he aint no messi. he is just one torn ankle away from being rooney again.

Messi is a truly outstanding player, and notwithstanding Rooney works harder and contributes to the defensive side of the game, the Argentine is the best in the world right now.
Both different types of players, but Messi is much better for sure.
cant even compare the two. only reason rooney has as many goals as he does is because hes the only striker. who else is gonna score the goals.

Am a United fan but got to give it to Messi he is the best him and Ronaldo are on another level to Rooney.
As much as Rooney is playing out of his mind right now, I'd still have to say Messi.
Messi for me. Rooney has taken giant steps forward this season though and there are many years left for him to gain ground on Messi and CRon. Unfortunately for him they might improve as well, who knows.
Regarding the golden ball, in world cup years it almost always go the biggest star of the world cup winning side and therefore it is impossible to guess at this stage.
I'll take Messi over Rooney anyday. Messi has much more to his game than Wayne. Both have been brilliant this season, but Messi has been doing it for the past couple of years.

Messi is just something else, technique, skills , speed , acceleration, ball skills, scores , he does EVERYTHING, the only thing i havent seen him do is take a corner and head it himself to the net lol

Messi is better, but I love Wayne Rooney.
Rooney still has to prove he won't make boneheaded fouls and get his hot temper in check from time to time on a consistent basis.
I thought he had matured abit of late, considering he is United's most important player.

But 8 Goals in a week, hell that's even more impressive than God's creation of Earth, let alone Rooney.

Definitely Messi is better
Completely two different types of players for their teams. Rooney usually plays as a lone striker so he often relies on the service of his midfielders, thus less involved...Messi doesn't have to do that as he plays more on the wings...will see more of the ball. He's in a role where he can create more for others and for himself.
It's almost an unfair poll for Rooney because you could put any other footballer up against Messi and it wouldn't be close this year. That being said, Rooney's consideration is warranted and impressive considering how United were being written off once Ronnie left. He doesn't exactly have the likes of Xavi and Iniesta feeding him the ball.
If you were to pick one player to build your team around, it would be easily be Messi hands down.
i remember media was talking the same about ronaldinho a few years ago, but he started to play worse and worse....messi on the other hand doesn't look like is stopping his evolution and development any time soon....
