    Default Champions League Wednesday Discussion

I feel Chelsea may pull an upset with Inter's recent form. Although I hate to say it, they are somewhat due for some European success. Will probably just lay off this game, and I kind of like the over in Russia, 2-1 finish.

Let's hear some discussion on the greatest club competition in the world !!!

I don't like either match. I'd probably just play both as draws and see if either hits. Both matches could go any way. If I had one play with a gun to my head, it'd be Sevilla PK -109. Moscow is tough, but not having played in three months? I'd take my chances there.

The only thing that scares me from the over in Russia is CSKA in pre-season form. Plus Sevilla without Luis Fabiano could struggle to find the back of the net.

But I do feel at least one game has to go over this week in CL. I refuse to believe that the under will go 4-0 this week in the CL.

I went for both the draws. You could also go for a -1 draw where you cash if a team wins by just 1 goal.

The -1 draw would have cashed for all 4 games in the last set of CL matches.

    CSKA/Sevilla

    1) Sevilla are missing Fabiano and one or two key players - advantage CSKA
2)The weather is much colder than in Spain and they'll be playing on artificial turf -advantage CSKA
    3) The time shift may affect the biorhythm of Sevilla players - advantage CSKA
    4) The Russian league has been on break for a while - advantage Sevilla

All things considered, CSKA have a huge situational edge.

    Predictions:
    CSKA 1-0 (1st half)
    CSKA 2-1 Sevilla
    Over 2.5

    Inter Milan/Chelsea

    1) Mourinho has more knowledge of Chelsea than Ancelloti has of Inter - advantage Inter
    2) By the law of randomness, it's unlikely that 2 English teams will both beat 2 Italian teams in Milan. Man Utd have already beaten AC Milan, so another England team win is unlikely here - advantage Inter
    3) Chelsea won the last meeting between these sides. So by the zigzag rule, Inter are more likely to emerge winners - advantage Inter
    4) Chelsea shut out their last opponent (Wolves) and Chelsea haven't shutout 2 straight opponents in their L13 outings - advantage Inter
    5) Ashley Cole was just divorced and John Terry is embroiled in a personal scandal which may impact the duo's performance on the field - advantage Inter

    Predictions:
    0-0 (1st half)
    Inter 2-1 Chelsea
(Eto'o and Drogba to both get on the score sheet)
    Over 2.5

I was thinking the same way 24-25 November 2009 in the group stages, was heavy on overs and from 16 games played ONLY 1 crappy game went over

Yeah I'm leaning CSKA PK and Chelsea/Inter over as well Wilforth. Nice writeups!

Good analysis Wilford, some interesting points.

Only thing that I do not underestand Inter 2-1 Chelsea (Eto'o and Drogba to both get on the score sheet) - You mean that Chelsea will still win?

    Cszka-Sevilla Over, and CSZKA DNB

Middle-European and West-European teams usually don't like the russian winter.....Sevilla won't be able to win there, and I won't be suprised at all with a 1 goal CSZKA win.....probably I will stake small money on 2-1 exact score too

No, Eto'o will score for Inter and Drogba for Chelsea, and then Inter will get one goal elsewhere.

CSKA PK for me, and perhaps I'll play some some low results in Chelsea/Inter.

Inter odds have not moved as I was expecting. I was hoping to get today (gameday) at least 3.0 for Inter but seems like a miracle now to have odds in that range.

If Inter score first, then Mourinho will park the bus and try and escape with the 1-0 victory.

I just hope either game finisher and DOESNT end in a draw!

Mourinho is gonna park the bus even without the goal. He usually goes for a 0-0 in these home legs.

No chance. Inter will go after a goal or 2 at home. That´s sure.

Cska is good today. I see them advancing here. Inter will look for a 1-0 win. They better get it cause they have no hope in chelsea.

I like CSKA, Rubin played welll in their first match in a while. I think CSKA can win.

CSKA with minimal win, let's say 1-0. Inter - Chelsea under the 2.5 total goals.

Lets not forget that Mourinho knows almost 90% of all Chelseas squad, and will play to over come there defaults.

I think Mourinho's knowledge of Chelsea is a lesser factor than people seem to believe. Sure he knows them in and out, but there really is no magic trick he can use to exploit their weaknesses that others can't use in the same way. Major clubs have staff spending hours and hours studying the weaknesses of other teams, and with teams like Chelsea who are so well televised and covered all opponent coaches will know what to expect.

It's still very hard to do anything against it. Just my 5 cents. I'll leave this one alone personally.

I believe a draw here would be the best bet.

    great write ups genetlemen...
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla: although CSKA has been in pre-season form, Sevilla has a lot more to battle without Fabiano, traveling and playing in the terrible cold... i'm going to avoid this one on the books butI'm leaning towards the under and CSKA on the spread (+pk).
Inter v Chelsea: both teams play ridiculous defense... can't pass on the UNDER, especailly at the San Siro where Jose will be ale to lock down his defense after putting one in. already laid down on the UNDER 2, 1/2.

    BOL everyone.

I believe also that Inter is looking at least a goal or two at home with clean sheet and Dead end defence (Catenaccio) when playing in Chelsea.

In my opinion, both coaches know very well about each other. Mourinho coached Chelsea and Ancelotti is very familair with Inter (Being Ac. Milan' coach). They both know what they are dealing with. I suspect a low scoring game and I predict that whoever scores first will win this game
