    Default Liverpool v Birmingham Discussion

Who you got, what you got?

I think Liverpool will barely take this game. Liverpool to win exactly by 1 goal.

Injuries are a blow for Liverpool, and Torres may not start as he has a hernia and is advised to be rested.

Possibly some value in the under for this game, I don't think I will make a play though, have to get up at 6am to watch it.

Probably best to wait for the line-ups first.
Aurelio, Skrtel, and Dossena should be back. Glen Johnson is training well and has also been called up to England squad - so he should play a part as well.
Aquilani is not fit enough to start but will come on from the bench (according to Rafa)

Torres starting or not is anyones guess at the moment. Steven Gerrard is doing light training but in lieu of the upcoming international break is unlikely to feature as they try to sort out his groin issue.

The key battle tomorrow is the midfield. Brum have Ferguson suspended. So they'll probably line up with Bowyer and Carsley in midfield. They should be overrun with the industry of Lucas and Macherano. This could result in a game played in the Birmingham half with Liverpool requiring to penetrate a packed defence.

Another favourable match-up I see from the Liverpool point of view is Insua/Benayoun/Babel Vs Stephen Carr (whose pace had gone ages ago)

The Under is a good bet here but it could be a scary 90 minutes.

BTW, Brum is Rafa's bogey team. He's never beaten them in the league - but that was all under Steve Bruce's reign as manager.

It's a bit of a surprise that Liverpool has had much trouble beating Birmingham.
In the L4 at home, Liverpool has only one win.

If Liverpool do win, they seldom win with only one goal, but taken together with
their current form and Birmingham giving some pain, you could be right JohnAnthony :-)

Liverpool to win with one goal @ 3.75

Liverpool +1.5 goals.Scousers have been criticised a lot and this is just what they need. A bottom half table side at anfield.I think whether Torres starts or not liverpool will thrash Birmingham city by atleast 2 goals.

Good match to avoid. It gets all the ink because it's a Premier League match, but there are others on the card today with less questions.

There's value in Birmingham +0.5 at that price considering:

    1) The L4 meetings between these sides ended in draws.
    2) Birmingham have scored in each of their L4 road games.
    3) Liverpool and Chelsea are the only teams now without a draw in a Premiership game. I think a draw isn't far ahead for those two.

Sounds like the Man City vs Brum match last week, I'll say the same thing I said last week, Brum arn't as bad as those odds suggest, they should not be +1400 dogs against Liverpool who might be without Gerrard and Torres. Liverpool want to get back to business with a bang tonight but I would wait till the final line up. If Gerrard and Torres are out fade LFC, the team will be demorilised if this news is confirmed, Birmingham will approach this game looking to get a point and could threaten on the counter and set pieces.

This is a game to be very carefull on, wait for the final line-ups and late line moves, this isn't as easy as it looks for Liverpool.

This game will be very boring. I expect a low scoring game with either a tie or a small margin win for either team. Getting even odds on Birmingham +1.5 is a steal. I also like the under 3 even with the juice.

I'd love to take the +1.5, but Brum has been awful on the road! That Man City match was a home game, and the only team worse than Brum on the road is Man City haha. I will keep an eye on lineups, but I think this could be a 2 goal Liverpool win considering their home form.

Careful, Liverpool might still win this match by 2 goals or more. Best bet to avoid today IMO.
