Default Champions League Capping Central: Tuesday 29th

    Kazan v Inter

This game takes place at 17:30, ealier then all the other games. Kazan got off to a bad start with a 3-1 loss to Kiev in a game they were leading in. Inter also didnt start too well with a fortunate draw to Barcelona and are currently in poor form. Inter Milan are also missing several key players in Marco Materazzi, Wesley Sneijder and Thiago Motta. Kazan have a clean bill of health and will make things difficult for Inter and will set out to get at least a draw from the game, another loss and Kazan can almost certainly count them selves out of the cup. Dispite this i think under the managment of Jose Mourinho, the quality of Inters squad, and experience will tell here, i can see the Nerazzurri winning...by a small margin.
Leans: Inter Milan / Under 2.5

    Alkmaar v St. Liege

Eredivisie champions Alkmaar have started the season in bad form with only 1 victory in the last 5 games in all comptitions. Standard Liege have began the season in good form and were slightly unfortunate to not get a point from the Arsenal Game. This game could be a candidate for an upste. An in form St. Liege to beat an out of form Alkmaar who may have a few key members injured (match time decision).
    Leans: St Liege -0 / Over 2.5

    Arsenal v Olympiakos

To begin with the odds on Arsenal make them unplayable, Olympiakos have a good squad and a excelent manager in Zico who has good european experience (fenerbahce's recent run in the Champions League) who deliverd a few upsets on the way.) Arsenal are still missing there 2 main keepers as well as Denilson, Walcott, Nasri and Bendtner. Im suspecting there could be an upset here, maby Olympiakos + goals , or "Both Teams to Score" at +100.
Leans: Olympiakos +goals / Over 2.5 / Both Teams to score

    Barcelona v Din. Kiev
Barcelona look an even better prospect then last season with the transfer of Ibra, he has added the element of strenght and height in attack which they lacked last season (both Chelsea Games). The football Barcelona are playing is simply unmatchable and i dont see Kiev stopping them. Kiev are going to park the bus in the Nou Camp, but i dont think they will succeed, especailly with Ibrahimovic up top, parking the bus agast Barcelona will be a dangerious tactic. Convincing Barce win here
    Leans: Barcelona - the goals

    Debrecen v Lyon

Including me, i think its safe to say we all underestimated Debrecen last game vs Liverpool. Even without there key Midfielder and Striker they put up a good fight. Against Lyon Debrecen will be looking to win a point and will defend in numbers and try counter attacks to find a goal. Lyon are missing key attacking players such as Lisandro Lopez and Debrecen are still missing lots of players. I can see Debrecen making life difficult for Lyon and forcing a draw / narrow Lyon win.
    Leans: Under 2.5 Goals

    Fiorentina v Liverpool

A tough encounter awaits Liverpool at Fiorentina. Fiorentina have been in faily steady form, and are defendinf well with 5 clean sheets in the last 6 games. Fiorentina will be well aware of the Torres threat and will defend deep because of this to evade Torres's devistating runs behind the defensive line. Liverpool on the other hand will be well aware that a point agast Fiorentina away will be a good result and will also set out to defend in numbers and counter with the pace of Torres. i belive both teams will cancel each other out and it will end up in a low scoring game.
    Leans: Under 2.5 Goals

    Rangers v Sevilla

Rangers havnt beaten a Spannish side since 1985 when they beat Osasuna 1-0, Rangers went on to loose the 2nd leg and tie. Rangers are also in bad form with only 1 win in the last 5 games in a league of quite low quality. On top of this it seems the Rangers squad lacks alot of quality, however one thing Rangers will do is battle, what they lack in quality they try make up for with grit and detirmination. However opposing them are one of the most formidable teams in europe at the moment with 5 wins in 5 games scoring 14 goals and conceeding only 1 goal. Another Factor to consider is that Sevilla have the best striker in the world at the moment Luis Adriano, who can score all types of goals. Rangers will park the bus, but i cant see anything other then a Sevilla win.
    Leans: Sevilla (Correct Score: 0-2)

    Unirea U v Stuttgart

Stuttgart have had a slow start to the season and should be playing alot better considering the squad they posses. They seem to have trouble scoring agast closed defenses and seem to be missing Gomes in attack. Unirea have kept a good home form and play like all Romanian teams poses a strong defense, and seem to be heading in the right direction under manager (Romanian Legend) Dan Petrescu. Unirea have a clean bill of health and will be looking for a point or to knick a 1-0 win. With Stuttgart struggling to score (last two games scored 6 but one was against lower league and one vs relegation prospect team
    Leans: Under 2.5 Goals

hmmm odds are tasty, but Barcelona have been finding early goals recently

Barcelona will definitely score goals but one thinks Kiev might park the bus in the 18 yard box in the 1H. I think Kiev can keep Barca at Bay for the first 15 minutes and then duplicate that effort twice.

Wilforth, Whats your thought on the Inter game, i just watched the kiev v Kazan highlights and Kiev had loads of chances even when Kazan were defending with everybody behind the ball, if anything near that is given to inter milan, inter will win comfortably

  7. #7

    Default

I like Inter but those Kazan guys were very athletic when I watched them. With Inter's talent, I fancy their chances of winning that one.

I like Liverpool so much. I know Fiorentina has been defending very well of late but this is the kind of game in which Torres gets just one chance and he converts it. I think the Liverpool game will end in a goalless 1H and then Liverpool gets one goal in the 2H. Benayoun gives a delightful pass to Torres for a goal around the 70th minute.

Here's the ones I like the best as of this moment with more homework to do on them.

    Best UNDERs
    1. Liverpool/Fiorentina (2.5):
Last five for the Italians have gone UNDER this total with the exception of their Roma match-up. They played a quality Lyon squad to a 1-0 loss. Liverpool played Debrecen to a 1-0 match in their last CL match. Fiorentina has not conceded a goal at home in Serie A, so even Liverpool will have troubles cracking their D & GK I believe. 1-0, 2-0 seems likely.

    2. Glasgow Rangers/Sevilla (2.5): Since the Spanish Primera League began, Sevilla has allowed 3 goals in 6 matches (includes Champions League vs. Unirea Urziceni). After a hot start in Scotland when Glasgow scored 9 goals in their first 3 matches, they have just 3 in their last 4 competitive matches. They have allowed just two goals in that span, coming off the CL 1-1 match against Stuttgart.

    Upset Alert
    1. Standard Liege +320 or +0.5 (+108):
Alkmaar is struggling in Eredivisie play domestically and lost in their CL opener, 1-0 to Olympiacos on the road. Liege has been strong in Belgium and gave Arsenal fits in a 3-2 loss in their CL opener. Liege led that one 2-1 until the 78th minute and collapses with another goal allowed in the 82nd minute. Alkmaar doesn't have that same quality and are struggling under their new skipper to find a groove. If you take one shot at hitting a big dog on Tuesday, this is the one I think has a legit shot to win outright, even on the road.

    does this worry you?

Olympiakos have an atrocious record in England, losing all eight games by at least a two-goal margin and scoring just once while conceding 27 goals.

Liverpool over 2.5 or Liverpool win.
Fiorentina will look for a win because they already lost 1 game, and because of this liverpool will score and there will more than likely be a few goals because the game will open up even more.
They've only kept clean sheets because they've played bad teams, but when they played a decent atttacking side roma they conceded 3.

Liverpool will win the game, so if you think Fiorentina can score against Liverpool even without Gilardino (their leading goal scorer who got a red against lyon and will miss this game) pick the over. If not pick Liverpool to win.

Kazan vs Inter Over 2.5 or Kazan +0.5 and +1

Kazan has scored 25 home goals in 12 games, and inter will probably struggle in Russia. It will be a strange game like inter at famagusta last year. Either an upset or a few goals. Still an unreliable Inter like the last 4 years, but now they have a champions league striker.

i've seen a few people saying so and so will play for a draw but at this stage No one goes into the game looking for a draw when at home. Thats a fact.
    Barcelona v Din. Kiev
Barcelona look an even better prospect then last season with the transfer of Ibra, he has added the element of strenght and height in attack which they lacked last season (both Chelsea Games). Leans: Barcelona - the goals
Ibrahimovic has done nothing in Europe compared to Eto, thats why Mourinho sold him, they are not a better prospect in europe, if anything they are weaker. They have someone unproven and gave up a proven european competition scorer. He is tall but hes not a defender, so the chelsea example doesn't count.
Just saying. Until he scores a few you can't really say that.

I went with the over on the kazan - inter game solely because kazan has to get a result here and inter has too much firepower. I expect Inter to take an early lead and then for the game to open up huge, Inter might net all 3 goals themselves.

    3-1 prediction, maybe 3-0.

    Nice writeups!

I´m gonna put a smaller wage on Rubin today. They are a decent team and Inter is a highly overestimated team that by tradition is weak internationaly + they have a trembling start in Serie A.
Played push if the result is X and win on Rubin. Lets take this home

I understand what you mean, iv been a big critic of Ibra but the reason i feel there a stronger outfit with Ibrahimovic is because they play a 4-3-3. When teams like chelsea etc park 11 men behind the ball its very difficult for Eto to play as theres hardly any space between the backline and the keeper, however what Ibrahimovic can do is get the ball hold it up and provide a much needed arial threat. That said, while he has started the league in great form his euro record is bad, maby things will be better at inter...maby not lol

lol, most brazilians have problems in russia, but on a serious note, while yes the record speaks for its self, Olympiakos have a good squad of players, and a good manager, while Arsenal are missing 2 keepers and a few key squad players, at the moment im learning more towards both teams to score.

    Rangers VS Sevilla - Draw @ 3.50/+250
Rangers did a good 2nd half against Stuttgart but did not win while Sevilla won their match against Unirea, but also nicely defeated Atletic.
I doubt that it's an easy task to go to Glasgow and win for Sevilla. They play at home with 22-26ºc, in Glasgow it's about 10-12ºc. How will Sevilla cope with the rain and wind inside a stadium packed with crazy scottish people?
My money is on the draw.

I'm also expecting Stuttgart to win away against Unirea @ 2.20 and Rubin Kazan VS Inter to go under @ 1.78.

Did anyone notice The Great Vineyard bet on Betpho. Its set at 22.5 for 7 late day matches. Now if you multiply 7 x 2.5 you get 17.5 If you like a lot of unders today this seems to have great value.

Just noticed that actually. Definitely going to bet the under on that one. Don't see enough goals being scored by a longshot in the later games.

Are you sure that doesn't include the Milan game though? Seems like a much higher number than would be write for only 7 games.

oh crap to be honest im not sure. usually with the grand salami, it will be taken off the board once the first match starts. the bet states "Total Goals Scored Tuesday on Uefa Champions Leagues". one would have to assume that includes the Inter match. WOW did anyone see that 3rd goal for USA.

I'm gonna take the bet regardless though. Just one like 6 bucks from BetPhoenix on a freeplay last night so I'm just gonna go all-in on the under since it looks like another goal wont be scored in this game, and there's some good defensive teams on the board here. Although the all-in on Arsenal to win looks tasty too...
